My guess is if and when the Leafs ever win a cup most if not all of these players will be long gone so who cares who's up and who's down each week. Just another example of why Sather sucks. So Dubinsky and Callahan come up together and quickly become fan favorites. Dubinsky has a better 08 and Callahan a better 09. Callahan gets 2.3 per and Dubinsky gets a 1 year qualifer for 600k.

Sather overpays for a brittle Gaborik, brings in Donald Brashear for 2 years at 1.4, Ales Kotalik at 3 mill per over 3 and Vinnie Prospal for 1.1. Plus he gives Gilroy a couple of million without him ever playing an NHL game. He only has 17 players under contract with about 5 million in cap space, and that includes Voros, Gilroy and Enver Lisin. The team will resemble Hartford this year but still be up against the cap. And thats with finding a sucker for Gomez's contract.

And the way to solve all this is to play hardball with one of your better young players??

So the kid comes up with Callahan and Girardi, has the best year of the 3 in 07-08, Callahan has a better year in 08-09. Callahan gets a 2 year deal for 2.3 per, Girardi has a 2 year deal for 1.55 per, Gilroy gets a couple of mill per on a one way deal without ever playing and Sather offers this kid a 1 year qualifier for 600k on a two way deal. And you guys are all over this kid. Sather is a moron and now we hear from this genius that he's overrated. Wake up.

When Barry Fraser scouted and drafted Messier,Kurri,Lowe,Anderson,Coffey,Fuhr and Moog between 1979 and 1982 and of course the Oilers were handed Gretzky? Should we give Sather the credit?Maybe a little... But, Since 1983 the record does speak for itself. And don't tell me about cups because anyone could have been the GM with that collection of stars already in place. Look at the draft picks and trades to get a better idea of how overrated this guy was and is...
