Prince Poldi's days are numbered. I'm not saying he'll be gone in the Jan window, but it sure seems like they've crossed that line in the sand that all relationships have. He deserved to get more time when Klose was playing like **** but now that Miro is playing better and Toni is back, I think Bayern will cash in on him. I keep reading that there's already an agreement in place for him to return to Koln when Bayern is ready. That's not the kind of thing you agree to if you have no plans on moving him.

Has anyone heard how this is playing out with fans of America? I know in the US sometimes we revere great players so much that after a certain point we can allow them to go to other teams and accept it kind of as "their right", but I haven't seen that same type of acceptance with fans of Mexican soccer.

Houston had an off year, it happens. AEG and Anschutz don't take the Galaxy seriously on the field, it's just their travelling side show designed to makek $$$.

huh??? Unless this is sarcasm, someone please tip off DEA to what appears to be the world's largest crack ring being run out of Fairfax, VA. Remember I is the man, "don't get high off your own supply"

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

I thought that Berlusconi had to surrender his stake when he went back to being PM.

Oh please. If there were ever a nuclear war, it would be Joe Pa and the cockroaches for the rest of all time. The man's clearly made some deal with the devil to still be alive and coaching (kind of) at age 137 or whatever he is.

Here's what I don't get. Why can't the commish just validate the final TD? Since it was the last play of the game it's not like they would have to go back and replay anything that happened after. SD wouldn't have gotten the ball back, so if everyone from the league admits it's wrong fix it.

Everyone's saying that if it takes tiebreakers 7-11 you're lucky, or you don't belong there, or blah blah blah, but if it's the rule than it should be followed.

GREAT POINT. Because rolling around on a mat grabbing another guy's sack (wrestling) is WAY less g*y. I mean since you're allowed to use your hands and arms, right?
Posted Wednesday November 19, 2008, About: MVP Pujols backing St. Louis MLS team
Let's not forget De La Hoya. Interesting how we're seeing athletes as the next wave of financial backers for the league. Two of them (Pujols and Nash) not from what you would consider traditionally soccer enthused nations.
Posted Tuesday November 18, 2008, About: Nuggets' Karl knocks Iverson
I don't know if anyone knows the context of this, but what was the question he was answering?Sports fans love to bash athletes and coaches for giving insincere BS responses, but when someone states the obvious (which most posters seem to agree on here) they get ripped too.

Let's not forget that Detroit didn't make this move because they wanted AI necessarily, they did it for cap space next summer, so what's that tell you about AI's value as a player to the Pistons? What happened to Philly when he left? They made the playoffs the very next year, so how big of a loss was he to the Sixers?

How would going from one of the most storied club's in Europe to Man Sh*tty be lateral? Milan had one off year. They'll win UEFA Cup, they look poised to make a run at the Scudetto (sp?) and be back in CL vs Sh*tty who looks to be mid table in the EPL despite their spending.

Ricky LOVES being the face of the Rossoneri which also have a tradition of great Brazilians. He's not going anywhere. Cochino realizes what a terrible mistake he made going to Sh*tty and is trying desparately to lure anyone and everyone that may help that team.
Posted Sunday November 16, 2008, About: Detroit in danger of losing Lions?
How exactly would losing the Lions constitute a "threat" to Detroit? The way they're playing, that's kind of like saying "sir, you are in grave danger of winning the lottery and living a lavish lifestyle".
Posted Saturday November 15, 2008, About: Donovan likely to stay in Europe
Beckham isn't going anywhere right now, but even if he did, he's not that important to the game in this country. LD going to Germany HELPS American soccer. Whether or not he gets much playing time, he'll be a more confident skilled player take the field with the USMNT.

Several of his caps are little more than that. He's like a vulture circling looking for scraps.
Posted Friday November 14, 2008, About: Drogba in hot water over coin toss
Drogba is a total headcase. BUT when Lamps came to his defense, it added alot of credibility in my mind. Despite the fact that they're teammates, Lamps doesn't automatically defend his teammates if they are truly in the wrong.

From what it sounded like, it wasn't a single coin. Lamps made it sound like there was a ton of change on the pitch.

Cheers Otergod. I wonder how many potential impact players get scared off of playing in MLS because of the control that the league has over the teams (among the laundry list of other reasons of course)
Posted Friday November 14, 2008, About: Billups regrets re-signing with Pistons
Regretting and being upset are the same things? Really??? Wow, so I guess when Sheed takes off his headband and chucks it 30 rows up, he actually just REGRETS getting that "T" right? Give me a break.

I love the double standard that most sports fans perpetuate. On one hand, athletes are all supposedly disloyal, mercenaries who chase the dollar. But when they put down roots, and become part of a community, and aren't happy when they get blindsided like this, they're not supposed to have an opinion or regrets.
Posted Friday November 14, 2008, About: Donovan likely to stay in Europe
I'm referring to the Rosenborg deal that was blocked by BOTH Dallas and the MLS. The fact that MLS has ANY say in player movement is a joke. If Dallas doesn't want to sell him, that's fine. They should have the right to make such decisions. By why MLS has any say in transfers is incredible. But then they can also place players wherever they see fit, so why not block moves as well.

Like LD, Cooper has paid his dues, played well, he deserves the opportunity to go abroad and cash a check for about $600k per year, up to $1m w/incentives rather than the reported $83k chump change he makes. When a player of KC's class is getting paid less than a fair number of the fans in the stands watching him, something's wrong.
Posted Friday November 14, 2008, About: Donovan likely to stay in Europe
That may be the biggest factor of all in this. MLS hosed Cooper last year, and in a league with very few attacking players worth watching, Garber may not let him go for a price that is reasonable.
