Rivers could beat Tebow? 188 yds and 1 TD, 3 SACKS. And how did NORV manage to lose? Counting on a 51 yd FG (which would match Novak's longest - hit earlier in the game) by a kick who doinked a 38 yd FG. So content with that was Norv that instead of using his All-Pro QB to push the ball, his forces the ball up the middle, loses 2 yds. and Novak misses a 53 yr. FG (duh!). OT, up to the def, and nothing.

As for Schotty: last 3 years at SD - 12-4, 9-7, 14-2. Oh yeah, just for the heck of it, he won the UFL championship this year and Coach of the Year. In the NFL, winning Super Bowls is hard. If have a coach that can consistently give you the best chance at that goal every year, YOU DO NOT FIRE HIM. AJ must go and he can take his puppet coach with him.

Rivers is a great QB. Brees is a great QB. In today's NFL culture and business, SD had to make a choice. My bet is if they kept Brees, he'd be suffering the same fate as Rivers right now. And Rivers would have to suffer in Miami.
Posted Sunday November 20, 2011, About: Rivers may only have himself to blame
I fear that if AJ stays, so will Norv. Norv has what AJ likes; he's quite and compliant. Unlike Marty. They need a new GM (Polian?) and new coach (beg Marty back or Bret Bielema from Wisconsin).

Rivers isn't the only one declining. The whole team has gone further down the crap hole since Norv has come in. Watch Carolina under Rivera (a Norv minion); same thing is on the way.

How is anything he says credible ......dude shot himself in the freak'n leg!
Posted Saturday September 10, 2011, About: Ex-Dolphin: Bush is 'glorified receiver'
Seems the NFL can't figure out what the fans already knew. A dinky swift player getting beat up; who'da thought? DeSean, Dexter M., etc out.

Thank you for noting this.

I suspect this is probably fairly close to the average curve. But TNR needs something to post and it said the word "Dallas", so it must be noteworthy.

SouthernBlueFan, well stated. However, logic and reason don't always take precedence in the NFL.

I keep hearing Osi to New England or Baltimore. A 6'3" 260, MAYBE 270 lbs. DE a 3-4? Can he play OLB, which is where he would be in a 3-4. Minnesota makes more sense to me, especially after losing Edwards.

Posted Saturday July 16, 2011, About: Sources: Smith asked Panthers for trade
Who is going to trade with his contract. I believe he is due $7,000,000 in 2011.

Frustrating, but probably is the Barry Sanders Syndrome; would rather not be here then be with a loser. Ron Rivera at HC, firing the RB coach, and drafting Cam Newton; things aren't going to get better soon.
Posted Saturday April 23, 2011, About: Bolts' GM knows he's on the hot seat
As a Chargers fan via Rivers (yeah, sort of the Michael Jordan Syndrome), I have to say that there ineptitude is almost entirely on Smith. Marty was a very good coach and was fired due to the fact that AJ didn't like him as a person. Marty couldn't win the big one? Only one team a year can! It's the NFL, it's not supposed to be easy. How many did Dungy win? Still a great coach.

So, what has AJ done: fired Marty and brought in Norv (and kept him!), got rid of LT due to loss of productivity (caused by Norm was that running game last year?), played hard ball with one of their best WR and the BEST OL (one of the best OT in the NFL!). His arrogance is killing the Chargers and he needs to go.

About the same size as Chris Johnson ......he seems to be doing OK for the Titans.
Posted Tuesday April 19, 2011, About: Hasselbeck to Seattle: Make an offer
Where is this "Make an offer" title coming from? He just said he didn't get a new contract, like a lot of other players. And why is The Boston Globe writing about this?
Posted Friday March 11, 2011, About: Dareus enters mix as possible No. 1
I have no confidence in Rivera at this time, so I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a QB. Neither Gabbert nor Newton are #1 quality. I'd go with Peterson or Dareus.
Posted Monday March 07, 2011, About: Bolts LB believes he's done in San Diego
If I didn't know better (and I'm not sure I do), I'd say AJ Smith was actually TRYING to build a losing program.
Posted Friday February 25, 2011, About: Panthers GM: Taking QB not out of the question
I said it when he was hire, I reiterated it when he fired the RB coach; the Ron Rivera era is going to be a disaster.

With that being said, he'll probably take Newton and watch him fall somewhere between Vince Young and JaMarcus Russell. *sigh*
Posted Thursday February 24, 2011, About: Gabbert hiding something?
It doesn't matter if he is hiding anything if teams are still willing to hand him a big paycheck. He'll get drafted high and Tom Condon will keep using this mentality.

Cam will be a good NFL player soon as he realizes he should be playing TE, not QB.
Posted Monday January 31, 2011, About: Skipper's out in Carolina, Williams next?
And the train wreck that will be the Ron Rivera era begins. *sigh*

Guess it's time to scouting the top college prospects for the next couple of years.

Posted Thursday September 23, 2010, About: Rams made pitch for Jackson
AJ Smith is an arrogant moron. Sure, SD has brought in some ridiculous talent, but then they also brought in Norv Turner. Whether V-Jac is worth $9 mil/yr (is anyone really worth that much .....hey, AJ, I'll sign for $400,000!) or $2, the major obstacle here, as it has been mentioned, is AJ's ego. He releases LT, whose numbers were down due to the system, brings in Turner to replace a fired WINNING coach (hey Tampa, other then then residual SB, how'd work out for you?), and now is blackballing two starters. Here's my question; if Marty got fired for not being able to win the big games and because of personality conflicts, shouldn't AJ be gone too under the same criteria?

Side note: Stop implicating that if Brees were in SD, they would have a SB. It simply makes no sense. Brees would be in the same situation Rivers is now; blowing up teams, only to be let down. NO put together the winning package. While Brees is a part of it, he's not the whole thing (see Tracy Porter, Pierre Thomas, or Sean Peyton).
Posted Friday September 10, 2010, About: Saban takes shot at Boise State?
Yikes .......revised due to bad spelling:

This point may have been mentioned, but it has to recognized that due to their conference affiliation, their recruiting suffers. If BSU were in the SEC, they would have SEC recruitability. Now you have to ask yourself, Nick, could you play against a team consistently that is that well coached and dedicated if they were able to recruit like 'Bama or Florida?
I realize that BSU has a weaker conference schedule (heck, so do they ....that's why they are switching conferences!), but if they win throughout, who else will be 27-0? That deserves recognition and a title shot.
Side note: AQs are even careful in scheduling FCS teams; they don't really want to schedule the App St.'s because of the possibility of losing. Ask UNC or Louisville, which backed out of playing ASU after Michigan fell and ASU won another legitimate national championship.
