If I was a GM, I wouldn't want to trade with the Marlins, they almost always get the better of the deal. They aren't afraid to give up established guys who have had average offensive years (or average pitching years) but have serious deficiencies in other parts of the game. Great trades of Jacobs and Gregg last year, a great trade of Hermida this year (Boston got duped by the Marlins......again), and it would be wonderful if they could still unload Uggla and Lindstrom on some poor, unsuspecting team (Cubs, are you listening?)

I am a Marlins season ticket holder and am very interested in this story. I think trading Jacobs and moving Cantu over to 1st base is the best move for the team. It's cool for others to rail on the Marlins, but let's not forget this is a team that was very close to making the playoffs this year after low expectations entering the season and returns a very talented and young starting rotation next year. Make fun of them all you want, but they do have many supporters in South Florida (whether they actually go to the games or not is a whole different story) and two World Championships in the past 11 years is nothing to sneeze at. What do you want, another Yankees, Red Sox, Mets story? And, let's not forget, the next best thing to winning the World Series, is taking away the Mets' chance to win the World Series!! That alone has made the last two years sweet.....
