Hamlin tweeted on Tuesday that he was cleared "just to start,' Hamlin told ESPN.com at Kansas he would drop to the back of the pack at Talladega and ride around until the first caution, then give way to backup driver Brian Vickers
if the weight isn't an advantage issue, why not make them so they're well over the minimum weight so there is no issue? obviously there is some sort of advantage to making the connecting rods as light as possible.. would one being under the minimum weight make any difference? i have no idea, but there must be a reason why they're pushing the envelope with the weight.. just went a little too far with it.
IIRC, carl long got hammered because the engine he bought from someone was also a microscopic difference.. i guess you're better off building in-house so a vendor can't get you screwed
not that i disagree but him starting talladega and climbing out would still get him the points which would help him from falling in the standings more.. he's in 26th right now and needs to be in the top 20 for the wild card.. he's 42 points out of 20th and you have to figure if he doesn't start richmond he will drop another 20-30 points.. might be a tough hill to climb if he doesn't get any points for the next 3-4 races
Hamlin told USA TODAY Sports' Nate Ryan on Saturday that while he's still hoping to return to his home track at Richmond, his doctors are 75 percent sure he'll be back for Talladega on May 5. However, Hamlin said if he started that race, he'd switch to a backup driver at the first caution.
^-- that would probably be a wise decision, assuming he wasn't part of the first caution
Hamlin tweeted: I know Joey felt bad but he doesn't have to keep falling in the points on my count :) #seeyasoon
get rid of sonoma (i like watkins glen) and go to LS or COTA
Penalty: Hamlin saying a car "did not race as good"
