Kind of refreshing seeing a USC poster like Jabril respond to a post about his team like this. I also agree that USC has a shot at taking it all in an 8 team playoff. Too bad we'll never know.

As far as the "o" winning games and "d" winning championships cliche - that may usually be true but in the BCS world, no offense means no style points. No style points puts you out of contention. Trust me, I know. My team is the lowest rankes 1 loss team in any conference.

What kind of paper? Charmin. More NFL stars, are you serious? A NCAA team is rated on paper as the best by the number of NFL stars? On paper means statistics. From 2008. USC has the #1 "D" but the #16 "O" right now. That offense struggled to put points on AZ and Cal (at home). They also rank #43 in sacks allowed, #103 punting, #72 punt returns, #28 turnovers, #25 sacks. Is USC one of the best teams....sure. Are they the #1 team on paper.....not with those stats.

Typical garbage article from the PPG. The PPG folks must be upset that the Panthers blew their chances of a BCS appearance so they're going to try and stir the pot a little. Funny how almost none of the PPG articles on Pitt or the Big East make it here to S.I.

Again you are going too deep. We are talking about PSU and USC (at least I was). Not Utah and Georgia, where SoS is playing a factor (see I do get the concept oh wise one). If both of these teams win out and you think USC will jump PSU based on SoS you are delusional. No sports writer in the country agrees with you. But hey, maybe I am wrong. Time to take the kids begging for candy. Is it Halloween on your planet too?

OK, I'm back from my two hour commute from work. I didn't make a wrong statement about anyones schedule. I could care less what Sagarin or any other poll has listed in their SoS hierarchy. If two teams have common opponents and one team loses to one of them, how can that team with a loss make any kind of negative comment about the others? Your logic suggests an 10-2 team is better than a 12-0 if that 10-2 team has a tougher SoS rating regardless of the fact that the 10-2 lost to a team the undefeated beat. Now go away.

Dood, you went way too deep with it. PSU vs. the OSUs 2-0; USC 1-1. That's about all I'm trying to get across.

Hey AFScott, you have a secret admirer. He wants to violate you in your sleep. Must be the uniform.

The transitive comment was in response to post # 49. Either way, there are three teams in front of Oklahoma and he said two of them had cupcake schedules. Which two remains a mystery. The whole point of my intial post was to remind USC fans that their 1 loss was to one of PSU's 9 wins. Again, as a PSU fan, I will take the strength of schedule comments with a grain of salt; from anybody other than a USC fan. They have no room to talk about PSU's schedule.
Posted Friday October 31, 2008, About: Will Ferrell in another USC stunt
None of the above. There's nothing transitive about it. USC and PSU has two common opponents, both of the OSUs. USC is 1-1 and PSU is 2-0. Simple logic really.

Unless, one of the "two unworthy teams with cupcake schedules" ahead of USC he was referring to is Texas and Bama, but then who honestly thinks Texas has a cupcake schedule?
Posted Friday October 31, 2008, About: Will Ferrell in another USC stunt
You are aware that you just admitted by your comments that USC was beaten by a cupcake aren't you? Is Oregon State a cupcake or is USC overrated?

The top 15 have to lose for PSU to make the fantasy NCG? Dammit, guess my CFB season is over and I didn't even know it. Guess I'll be relegated to watching womens volleyball, no wait a minute, is there a fantasy volleyball NCG?

Fantasy NCG, whatever!

Fact is, PSU will win out but will not play in the Orange bowl over undefeated Texas and Alabama. It's quite simple. It's Texas' and Bama's job to keep them out.

USC has their own credibility issues without attacking PSU. The Trojans stunk it up in Corvallis against a team PSU crushed. USC talkin smack towards PSU is cutting your nose off in spite of your face.

I agree. One of the things I admire most about PSU is the loyalty to each other and the whole staff doing for the love of the game. Everyone wanted Joe's salary disclosed and when it was, people were shocked to hear it was only $500,000.
Posted Thursday October 23, 2008, About: Penn State's next coach...
Bradley has been running the "D" at Linebacker U for a long time and lately, has been the head coach (since Joe is in the press box). Bradley is the only reason PSU won a few early on this decade because the offense was horrendous, save 2005.

Galen is getting up there in age too. I don't think the folks in Happy Valley want Schiano. I think Joe would want to make sure Jay Paterno's future is taken care of which would indicate Bradley is the right choice. He's more loyal than a hunting dog.

Also, Terrelle Pryor said PSU would have been given a lot more consideration if he knew Bradley would be Joe's successor. That statement carries a lot of weight when thinking of the future of the program.

This is funny. "Big Red" is former PSU QB Mike McQueary and the WR coach. Mike's job is too send in the plays. Since Joe refuses to wear a headset McQueary has to stay close to him so Joe can get linked up with OC Galen Hall.

I don't hate Pitt. I have a relative on the Pitt roster right now. Having lived my first 20 yrs of life in PA, I'd rather see them win than a team from the Choke-eye state. I hate JoePa haters that take every opportunity they have to take a swipe at him. Just like that smear campaign ESPN just ran. He has his faults and undesireable traits, so does everyone else. Unlike the Stoop's, the Spurrier's, the Miles's, the Rodriguez's, etc., JoePa is in it for the love of the game and the school. And unlike a majority of schools with NC's from the 70's and 80's, PSU has NEVER had one single NCAA violation. He's had discipline issues lately and as I've said in other posts, it might be time to go. JoePa is a blue-collar, no BS, media hating, tough old ****. My kind of guy.
Posted Thursday October 09, 2008, About: Injury may cause Paterno to retire
I take that back; losing until 9:17 left in the game against the Orange and a 1 point lead against Buffalo going into the 4th = not impressive, even for the mighty 45-33 since 2002, Pittsburgh panthers of the Big least Conference.

I'll save you the research; since 2002 PSU is 51-29 and that includes the two worst records of the JoePa tenure, who plays in the Big Ten.

And there are plenty of Bowling Greens willing to go to Pitts-dump.......wait a minute, that didn't work out so well. Great job against MAC powerhouse Buffalo though and the huge margin of victory against Syracuse was impressive.

......and there are lots of Bowling Greens willing to go to Pitts-dump, no, wait a minute,.....that didn't work out so well. Did it.

Injury or not, it may be the year for JoePa to give it up. Ten wins this season is looking pretty good right now. His contract is up as well. Recruiting has not been great. Joe can leave the program under his terms. Hell, if he still wants to hang around, he obviously has a seat in the press box. Either way, he knows there are only a few years left. He should go out with the great team he has this year.

This poster would like to see JoePa name Tom Bradley as the 2009 PSU coach during his post-game bowl interview. Actually, I'd love to see Bill Cowher and his chin walk the sideline in Happy Valley, but that's not going to happen.
Posted Thursday September 11, 2008, About: Why Pitt still irks Paterno
Last call - You forgot most bowl appearances, most bowl wins, most undefeated seasons, winningest coach in D1 blah blah blah. Why don't you and pennstatesucks02 get together and have a hate party. He can whine about living in a lame state like Massachusetts that has no relevant football program and how Tom Brady and Manny can save their seasons anymore and you can "stew in your own juices for 25 years because that's how long it will take to break even if Pitts wins damn near every game vs. PSU. 23-7-1 all time vs. Pitt - PATERNO OWNS PITT
