I've been a Flyers fan for nearly 40 years and I completely agree with Tortorella. In fact, I Facebooked during the game that the calls were HORRIBLE at the end there and that I thought the Rangers just got totally jobbed. Don't blame him for being angry ... the refs tried VERY hard to screw his team over and he was fortunate his team stepped up and was able to overcome it.

Yeah, I agree in general but in reality they almost totally ignore the Flyers and the Sixers. It's all about the Phillies and Eagles in this town. And the Eagles deserve most of the heat they've taken over the years. They get it because they're completely arrogant and they treat the media around here like dirt. The Phillies ... yeah, that's unfair. The hype over that loss the other night was just ridiculous. But I think the Flyers beat writers and the sports media in general ... they're pretty fair. I knew for years before I saw it in the papers that Carter and Richards were party animals. I have a few friends that hung out at some of the joints they frequented downtown and I honestly didn't believe the stories they told because I kept saying, "If that stuff was true the media would be all over it!"

The thing that's sort of mystifying about this is that Carcillo was popular here in Philly and, really, the Flyers fans are by far the most tolerant of any of the four majors here. They haven't won a Cup in 40 years and yet the Flyer Faithful still support the team day in and day out. Why he felt the need to lash out like this, I have no idea. I can't remember a single time he was treated unfairly by the media and the reality is this team was a dismal failure last season. They deserved more criticism than they got, if you ask me!
