Posted Tuesday September 30, 2008, About: Joba's future role uncertain
The Yankees treat Joba like he is a little leaguer. Is anyone else amused that all the precautions taken to save Chamberlain's arm backfired? There is just entirely too much micro-management in baseball when it comes to young pitching. Everyone is afraid to ruin the next Kerry Wood (not specifically Joba here, but all talented young pitchers). It is an exercise in futility. You sign a player to throw the ball, but watch-out, not too much. He is a grown man, right? All he has to do is throw a baseball like he has spent his whole life doing. Don't over-complicate the whole development process with needless safeguards, because the more you think about it, the more you realize that any pitcher, at any age, at any time, can potentially blow out an elbow or shoulder.

Just a historical note here. Salvery has existed since the beginning of human civilization. Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, Austrailia have all endured or currently endure the horrors of slavery. It is not unique to the United States over the past four hundred years, nor is it unique to any one race. People with financial means, possessing moral indifference have always oppressed weaker or disadvantaged demographic groups throughout history. The real problem is not about black and white. The only color that has ever really mattered in issues of social injustice is green. Slavery in all forms is about money, and it exists today in many places other than the southeastern United States. Are blacks disadvantaged in today's America? Some are, sure. Is it because of race or economic class? I think there are plenty of disadvantaged groups in this country that are not originally from mother Africa that would be quick to point out that classism is the real foe here. It's all about economics, and those with poitical and financial influence stand to gain from pitting the middle and lower classes against each other with rasist propaganda. Don't be ignorant. If you had enough money, no one cares what color your skin is.

Ronnie. Excuse me.

The Patriots Defense slowed down, stopped entirely, and seemed to stand in awe of Ronny Brown. The guy was amazing and has shown similar talents in bursts of healthy play plast year. Too bad for the AFC east if he stays on his feet and has slick Rick taking some of the burden for him. Impressive player.

Pats = Arrogance, Cheating and whinning
Cowboys = Arrogance, Front runners content on patting themselves on the back and claiming the trophy in week 3...wait that was last year...and the year before...

That should be simple enough for you Mr. Smith. Generalities without any hope of proof. They both sound crazy, don't they?

Seems like Homophobia is a real issue with people. Are you affraid of gay people 'Tampa Bay'? The ignorance is staggering, and pretty disgusting really.

There are no bandwagon fans at Gillette Stadium in December my Redskin friend.

It's sad, really. The Cowboys are a regular season front running team. Proof is in the past three-four years. Smith can run off to his Cowboy thread and wear the silver and blue glasses if he likes, it doesn't change the facts.

Mangini, I give up. I mean really. You don't even respond when I point out the error in your statement. Am I supposed to get upset when you mention Brady? Football players get injured. I'm glad you can take pleasure from another's pain; only children and bitter individuals who have never encountered serious injury in their own lives take joy in the pain of others. The Pats got caught filming signals. Who has ever smoothed that over? Certainly not the media. Not me, and not most of the fans you would speak to. General statements about "all you New England fans" or any fan base or demographic (racial, religious, nationality, age, gender) are ignorant. You may see the world in black and white my dear boy, but real life shows us that the truth is not so simple. Can you understand that?
Mr. Smith, Take a look at some of the other posts. Pats fans (myself included) are ready for the next game.

Ha. Schaffer Stadium. Good times.

Mangini...seems like you believe Coach B can tell the future as well. You have an active imagination and seem to be under the impression that because you say something, it must be true. Facts have a way of revealing those fictitious agruments for what they are. Ignorance and anger. Defensive signal codes are changed after every game, just ask the defensive coordinators. Every team (legally) can tape defensive formations of their opposition and study them. It's called a tape session my misinformed friend. Check it out. See? The facts really are fun if you take the time to read them.

Excuse me, first quarter of week 1, 2007. For all the fact checkers out there.
Posted Tuesday September 23, 2008, About: Has Moss thrown in towel?
Bill B got caught in the first quarter of week 1, 2008, my friend. They won that game without the tapes, and did quite well the rest of the season (including giving up 17 points in the only loss). First two games this season. No tapes. Pretty good defensive showing. After getting caught "...the team came down to earth." Not sure if your point was made there. The real NFL? Very cute though.

This time last season....Giants: 1-2 (Defense and Manning lambasted as overrated and in need of replacement by New York and National media).
Three games in and people have all the answers. Quite amusing really.

I recall LeBron walking off the court well before the end of an important playoff race game last season. Seems to have been given a "tough competitor" pass there. Too bad Moss wasn't provided the same media courtesy.

HOVA,
I couldn't agree more. Football, especially on the professional level, requires careful planning and execution to make an offense work efficiently. Absent the quarterback and the center, the ball goes into the hands of the player that the play (and reads) calls-for and the defensive formation dictate; seems to me that the coaching staff has not taken the time to work Moss into the scheme. I am, of course, looking from the outside in. It could be that the staff have been seriously hindered in their play-calling due to the loss of their starter and the uncertainty of their backfield, or that they have been calling plays for Moss, but the opposing defenses have not "cooperated."

Moss is a professional athlete in the modern era. The chances are that none of the people posting here have never seen the guy in person, nevermind actually meeting or having a conversation with him. We don't know these people, yet certain judgment seems to be quite easy to level for most of the individuals here. I think it is most obviously because certain biases exist in sports fandom, depending on your geographic (or childhood) allegiance. These biases are played up by sports media (ESPN or in this case the wonderfully thourough Boston sports leviathan) to raise television ratings for their "expert analysis" shows, sell more newpapers, or get people to sign on and bicker here. Don't fall for the sludge that spews from these reporters mouths. They are all in it to make bank. Plain and simple. Is Moss a selfish jerk? Maybe. Is he a hard working teammate? Maybe. Are we all being fired up over a player looking disgruntled on the sidelines of a tough loss to a division rival? Seems like a reporter can just post his personal toughts on the way a player's body language appeared, and people will treat it as fact. A player like Moss, with a media fueled reputation for being brash and arrogant, is a natural choice for a reporter to embelish about to get his article read in a week when the Pats face real questions about the age of their defense and the effectiveness of their backup.
