Georgia Tech Ramblin' Wreck's Comments

Posted Thursday February 02, 2012, About: Student body bored by Duke hoops
Okay, GT is awful in basketball this year, we're not even playing home games on campus, and I have almost no interest in basketball. But I have still gone to a few games this year, and when I do, I stay the whole damn time and I make it fun. The students aren't excited enough? Try to get them going!
Posted Monday January 23, 2012, About: Oregon had short list of Kelly replacements
If next season goes poorly, I don't think there's much of a "might be" about it.

Man, what a sad day. Four basketball topics and another "someone wanted Petersen" topic.
Posted Wednesday December 14, 2011, About: Malzahn taking significant pay cut
Hahaha, ouch!

In that case, I'm pretty surprised I'm still in triple digits.

Wait, total comments 901? I had more than 4,000...

Help, somebody distract me from finals!

No music there either, just really terrible reality shows.
Posted Tuesday November 29, 2011, About: UCLA's guy should be Petersen
Okay, not sure what's going on with the comment posting twice, but now it's time for a class where I actually have to pay attention.

I usually follow Sagarin's computer rankings compared to the AP's, since those are at least generated by crunching some numbers (and after there's enough data to connect every team, preseason rankings do nothing).

Okay, meant to say that in another topic...

I'm just pointing out that mid-season rankings, especially when you get to the the 20-25 range, are pretty unreliable. Sometimes it may be a team nobody saw coming that's on their way up, but often it may be a team like Auburn that would have been unranked had they lost the same amount of games, just in a different order.

They have a spinoff channel, MTVU, that plays a horrible mix of white-boy alternative and autotuned hip-hop.

Texas was ranked when UCLA played them last year, and they ended up 5-7.

Not to mention we really had no business being ranked after only beating Duke by 7, I think that was just due to other teams' losses.

I think people are calling it a down year since they're used to both divisions having a legitimate shot at winning the championship (UF/Bama in '08 and '09). USCe, even with Lattimore, never really looked like they put a whole game together until Clemson. So people look to LSU and Bama, then look for the East's equivalent teams. And when those teams are 10-2 despite themselves and 10-2 thanks to a weak schedule, they're left wanting. So that's where the impression of a down year comes from.
Posted Tuesday November 29, 2011, About: Meyer will be forced to take vacations
Unless you were referring to the talent pool at UF, which I think is equally false.
Posted Tuesday November 29, 2011, About: Meyer will be forced to take vacations
Talent pool in Florida is drying up? Quick check of ESPN's recruiting site shows otherwise. 57 4- or 5-star recruits in the 2012 class hail from that state.

I say this looking at UGA's schedule unbiased, not as a homer: they had a very weak schedule this year. The best team they played this year? Us. And we're 8-4 with two very bad losses. If we didn't play lights out against Clemson we'd be 7-5.

Who knows, maybe Shaw will turn out to be as good as Harbaugh. I think either way there's going to be a dropoff next year (unless Luck comes back again, which I don't see happening), but they might claw their way back up after that. Only time will tell.

Remember, UCLA won 8 in a row from 1991-99. USC, as good as it is now, is not impregnable.

Christmas is coming up, better put that in your letter to Santa!
