Yes, they had a 9-7 record, but they also had Moss, and a healthy Daunte Culpepper. By the time Childress took over the team, Moss had been traded to the Raiders and Daunte had suffered the season ending Knee injury that ended his time in Minnesota, let alone his time in the NFL. This on top of the fact that Mike Tice was more drummed out of Minnesota then replaced. Childress took on a mess....

Coaches need allot more then a few years to build a team up and get them going toward a superbowl. Especially one as dysfunctional as the Vikings were when Childress took over. Anyone remember the party boat nonsense? How about the old coach scalping tickets? Or maybe you recall that nutty over rated QB who acted as his own agent?

Childress is at 6-0, has so far aquired, traded, or drafted some of the most talented players in the NFL, and is game planning like a true tactician. I'd say Childress is doing good enough to earn a contract extension.

I think it would be fun to rebuild that franchise. Not unheard of. But CLEARLY you have to jettison that QB from Oakland, and plan on trading out of the 1st round for more draft picks for a couple years at least....as a start.

The problem is Al Davis makes the Raiders a place NO player or quality coach wants to go.

Nope. SB rings are hard to come by. You need consistency and regular play off visits to hope for a ring. Look at the now coveted Bill Cowher. He won 1 SB in the 14 or 15 years he coached Pittsburgh. It takes time to build up a consistent team with a great draft and personnel plan. He is on the cusp of getting that ring. Just a matter of time. And the young guys look good too. Kolb, Shady, DeSean, Maclin...no..keep this ship moving steady and patience will see us through.

Nope...This is completely the problem with teams and the way they develop talent. The browns just don't have enough stability or quality coaches to turn Brady Quinn into a reliable QB. With the right QB coach and a line that can hold a pocket for him, Brady Quinn will be a starter somewhere.

Here is a dark horse pick up for Quinn...I could see the Patriots bringing him in and developing for a year. And either making him a solid number 2, or eventual trade bait in the future.

Love Ochocinco...though I wasnt happy with him crying like a girl last season on the NFL channel. Funny guy with lots of personality. He was great on Hard Knocks this past season.

Part of the attraction of football...and makes me want to watch other games besides the ones my Eagles play in. Love him or hate him...personality helps people expand their view of the league beyond their league and division.

Well..lets be honest here. You have Middle LB's that are 6' 1" 250lbs and moving at 4.5 speed...or 6'7" 285lbs DE's bleeding off the edge with 4.4 speed....the beasts playing defense today aren't playing with the same type of chassis they were playing with even 10 years ago. You have to protect QB's from taking shots to the head and knees. Making sure they don't get maimed won't slow up the game.
