Its all well and good to mock the Leafs (they're tragically bad this year in particular), but what you're saying comes off as pretty bad arrogance. Obviously Toronto is the premier franchise of the NHL, anyone debating otherwise is crazy.
Equally questionable, saying that Toronto hasn't been relevant in your lifetime is like saying the Yankees haven't been relevant for 9 years. Just the fact that there's still a team there makes them relevant. Boston has a lot of sports that they're the top in, but hockey isn't one of them. Maybe you should take it easy man.
Posted Tuesday November 17, 2009, About: Three-team trade may include Gonzalez
There's no way its this simple. Gotta be some prospects coming from the White Sox. Though with Gonzalez the Sox would have a pretty, pretty team (assuming they don't lose Bekham).
Posted Saturday November 14, 2009, About: Why Leafs still won't name captain
Kessel's been dynamite. That release...
That said, the Bruins did get a pretty significant haul for him. Too bad by the time those picks take the ice all of their best players will have moved on to bigger contracts with richer teams (like Toronto, ironically).

Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Iverson to Cavaliers?
That's not necessarily true. LeBron is the best player in the NBA. Everyone admits it. I'm not saying Iverson would be willing to come off the bench, but even he's not saying that he deserves to shoot more than the king. The terrible part of the decision is 2010, when the starting lineup is Shaq, Varejao, AP, AI and Mo. Can't wait for Joe Posnanski to write about that one.

Please god not a hard cap. Can we please have one league where teams can be good nowadays? If a team is willing to invest the cash (and its expensive to go over the cap) why shouldn't they be able to try and build a good team. The last thing we need is constant roster turnover, mediocre teams and totally unpredictable seasons. Please Mr Stern, at least keep the NBA entertaining to watch.
Posted Wednesday August 05, 2009, About: Southern team interested in Quebec City games
Dude, I think he meant the coldest sports city. No kidding the further north you go the colder it is, but no-one's playing professional sports in Labrador.
PS Congrats on the 'all under 6 foot' team. That'll probably work out for you
Posted Wednesday July 15, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
The way people assume that Brett loses every game for his teams with INTs amazes me. First off, he almost never loses. No one has as many winning seasons as him, and no top 15 QB has as few losing seasons. He's also done it with different personnel, which will be Peyton's test starting this year. The end game is, give me a player like Favre who'll throw a few INTs but then give you a bomb like that 82 yarder against Denver in 07 over a guy like Rodgers was last year. As impressive as his stats were, in the key times he tended to come up short. Google can only get you so far 50 year fan. At some point you need to make real analysis.

T&R pulls you in with the misleadingly erotic headlines, then leaves you disappointed don't they.
Posted Tuesday July 14, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
I don't know that Tavaris can learn anything from Brett, if only because they're such different quarterbacks. Probably will wind up being one of those guys who was not mentally tough enough for NFL action despite their gifts. See Grossman, Rex and Losman, JP
Posted Tuesday July 14, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
I guess so, but it was Cassell's first real important game and I was just amazed that he didn't wet himself and curl up into a ball at midfield. Anything better than that rated an A+ in my books.
Posted Tuesday July 14, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
Yea, MVP doesn't mean anything in sports anymore, but that year Favre was the most irreplaceable player in the league, though obviously not the 'best'. Either way, saying that they would've made the Superbowl without Favre gets you a seat on the special bus with extra padding.
Posted Tuesday July 14, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
Yea Tennessee was solid. He pretty much got outplayed by Cassell against NE though
Posted Tuesday July 14, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
Sorry, 07-08. The year they went 13-3. Last year he kindof sucked against teams not named Arizona.
Posted Tuesday July 14, 2009, About: Jackson may ask Vikings for trade
I can't even begin to understand your logic sometimes its so stupid. Rodgers obviously wasn't at fault last year, but he didn't have the same impact Favre did on the team. Stats don't tell it all. In 08 Favre made some amazing throws and decisions that I've only seen from a very select few quarterbacks. Obviously he laid an egg last year down the stretch, but to discount his 08 season is really ignorant and pigheaded.
Posted Friday July 10, 2009, About: Brewers to make pitch for Halladay
Halladay already waived the no-trade clause, not an issue.
I have a hard time believing that this is anything more than a media fabrication. Ricciardi said that he would "listen" to any offer, not look to trade him.
Halladay is the kind of pitcher who has too much value to any consider trading, and one of the few who might actually consider re-upping with Toronto.
Interesting but unmentioned is the fact that Ricciardi might not even have the authority anymore to trade him. He's lost the faith of the fanbase and, based on the fact that ownership wouldn't give him any money to sign free agents despite taking back Burnett's contract, probably them too. And don't pretend that its a cash thing or a small market thing. The Blue Jays led the league in attendance 5 years. Its just hard to fill the seats for a team that can never do better than third. And I don't think the Rogers corporation is hurting for cash either.
Posted Friday July 03, 2009, About: Ariza unhappy with Lakers offer
That's some pretty epic revisionist history dude. At the time the guy wrote that, no one would have thought that Artest would be wearing purple and gold. Gloating about it now that its happened and calling that guy an idiot is in poor taste. It'd be like the Raptors choosing not to resign Bosh next year but then somehow getting LeBron. Everyone would still call them stupid at the time.

Nazi jokes about David Stern are probably not PC. On the other hand, if the shoe fits...
Posted Thursday July 02, 2009, About: Rockets target Bosh
I think that TMac would be a good deal for the Raptors. Get a big expiring contract, a top draft pick this year, a young player from Houston. The Raps could be players for Amare in 2010 thanks to Colangelo's history with him. Also, think of the irony of TMac coming 'home'!
Posted Thursday July 02, 2009, About: Rockets target Bosh
If I was Toronto I would absolutely take TMac plus an asset for Bosh. Expiring contract, exciting player, a little ironic all at the same time! Why not?

Also, another thought. You guys always chat on these threads, which is actually a pretty good idea to get out of work. But maybe you could not post on the Favre thread every day. When you do, we get like 1000 posts on each one and the moderator thinks they're more popular than they are
