Bayern didn't stop playing, Hitzfeld should never have taken off Matthaus with 10 minutes left and brought in Thorsten Fink. Fink's inability to properly clear a ball is what lost Bayern the match. The lack of skill of a Bayern substitute is the only reason Bayern lost. That's all I will say about that.
Bayern didn't say anything about young talents having to be German, just no South America talents.
Players Bayern was interested in from South America in the last decade:
Carlos Tevez - offered to Bayern for 30 million euro as a "talent".
Robinho - offered to Bayern for 35 million euro as a "talent".
When a talent costs upwards of 30 million euro without having proven anything on a big stage, they are not worth 30+ million unless they are going to an EPL side.
Bayern spends a "modest" 15 million euro on Breno as a "talent" and after three years he's worth a pack of tic-tacs and a **** from a Macedonian hooker.
Show me one compelling purchase ANY Bundesliga club has made from South America in the last 10 years. I'd be dying to see who you come up with.
While I agree that there's plenty of dead weight in Cooperstown (Kelly being a fine example), what is the point of comparing a 1920's first baseman with a modern-day first baseman? Pointless.... absolutely pointless.
It is worth noting that Kelly was on six pennant winning teams.... two of which went on to win the Series. I'm not saying that a team accomplishment warrants an individual honor like HOF induction, but he certainly wouldn't be the first, and probably won't be the last, to get into Cooperstown that way.
According to wiki (if you want to believe that) the dues are actually pretty low considering ($10k). They apparently use the tournament money to keep the fees low.

Honestly though, isn't all sports really irrelevant when you think about it?

But, yeah.... the team's confidence is at its highest level so far this season.
No Gerrard, Suarez, Kuyt, Agger, Enrique, Carragher.... and of course, no Reina.
But Carroll is in there! hahaha!
He is a super-**** ****.
He really is.
