Toskala is a good goalie. He just isn't a good goalie for the Leafs. The Leafs aren't at in a position where they need to be adding a piece here and there - they need to be rebuilding, and I think they would be better off with the draft pick than they are with Toskala.

Please, you are giving Bettman way too much credit. Do you actually think he makes all these decisions himself?

New jerseys? Nope - Reebok waved a big cheque in front of the teams, and they jumped.

Rule changes? Also nope - that's what the competition committee is for.

Salary cap? Negative - the owners wanted it, the owners got it.

Expansion into non-traditional markets? Not Bettman - teams wanted expansion fees, but they don't want anyone getting into their market, so they have to look elsewhere for space.

Bettman is largely a figurehead. He is not the great evil he is made out to be.

Yawn. A lot of bluster by Chelios. So, Bettman wants to leave Chelios in Russia. Didn't Chelios threaten Bettman and his family during the previous work stoppage? Two guys on opposite sides of a labor dispute don't like each other - someone call Ripley!

It'd be more noteworthy if they did like each other. Chelios and his beloved union got stuffed during the lockout, while Bettman got exactly what he wanted. Sour grapes by the players.

I doubt Moore stuck in the NHL long enough to qualify for his pension. He got his career trashed by Bertuzzi. Its no stretch to say that Bertuzzi should bear some financial responsibility for that.

As for the case being tossed in BC? Please. The case was tossed because they love Bertuzzi. They charged a visiting player (McSorley) when he did something stupid, and they were pushed into a corner to doing something with Bertuzzi, but they got rid of it as quickly as possible.

And who cares if Moore didn't want to meet Bertuzzi to hear his apology? I wouldn't want to meet up with someone who stalked me and punched me in the back of the head either.

Bash Bettman all you like. He got what he was supposed to out of the labour dispute, and the players caved completely.

All the players accomplished was wasting a season. Bettman got his employers (NHL team owners) a way to build a competitive team and make obscene profits. He's not going anywhere for a while.

Brutal. Completely irresponsible of the NHL to allow Simon to play in a pre-season game while he is suspended. Completely reprehensible of them to allow him to play in this one in particular.

Close whatever loophole let this happen.

I'm OK with this, as long as the league follows through and suspends Bouwmeester and the Staal brothers. Not necessarily for the same length of time - I would suggest 5-10 games for J-Bo and 2-3 for the Staal's (an additional game for Jordan given the extra charge).

I'm all for making these guys accountable, as long as the league doesn't pick and choose who they hold accountable.

What's the big deal? Hull just needs to decide where he wants to stand. You can't rip the league at every turn, while working for one of the members of the league. If he wants to be a broadcaster, and turn himself into a mini Don Cherry, then he needs to give up his job with the Stars. One or the other.

I thought the reffing was bad, but not overly inconsistent with the rest of the playoffs. The Stars just didn't generate enough offense, and Turco could only do so much.
