that's why he'll clear waivers...no one is going to claim him, thus making him a free agent. "clearing waivers" means no one claims him. if some team claims him, they are on the hook for his contract at $12 million. if he clears waivers and is let go, the blue jays are on the hook yet for his salary and some team can pick him up for a really low cost, similar to andruw jones with the rangers. the rangers signed him for the veterans minimum and the dodgers are on the hook for the big part of the contract.

i hate how people are ready to dump hardy for escobar, an unproven rookie. hardy, yes, is struggling, but last a 4 for 4 night and possibly the start of some hitting. he is very streaky, so it may be the start of a hot streak.

i'm not ready to trade jj and bring up an unproven rookie when we already have that with gamel at 3rd.

classic...just classic....
Posted Monday May 11, 2009, About: Brewers want MLB to probe Dempster
i was talking generally, not dempster specifically. even so, take a 90 mph pitch off the noggin...probably not gonna feel too good....
Posted Monday May 11, 2009, About: Jenks admits throwing behind Kinsler
me DUM DUM, i agree, pitching inside is essential to the pitchers. you have to in order to keep the batters from leaning out and jumping at outside pitches. just stay away from the head....
Posted Monday May 11, 2009, About: Jenks admits throwing behind Kinsler
agreed...if you're going to hit someone or send a message...stay away from the head. ribs or right on the number in the back sends the message but you aren't risking that persons career by going after their head.
Posted Monday May 11, 2009, About: Brewers want MLB to probe Dempster
so your perfectly fine with a 95+ mph baseball coming at players heads??? if intentional, that's a bullsh*t pitch...if your going to hit someone, fine, go after the ribs, legs, right in the numbers on the back...not someone's head.

if your fine with it, grab a helmet and bat and stand in there and take one upside your noodle like a man....
Posted Monday May 11, 2009, About: Brewers want MLB to probe Dempster
you throw at the hitter if its a SUICIDE SQUEEZE to stop the run from scoring. on a basic bunt play, let your defense make the play and get the out.

if YOU knew baseball, you would know that difference.....a suicide squeeze is a lot different than a bunt with no one on. and if you're going to throw at them, not at the head...that's messing with a man's career and life....
Posted Thursday January 08, 2009, About: Jones' comments irk Favre
rodgers had a decent connections with jennings/driver....jennings put up pro bowl worthy numbers and driver had his typical season....favre wouldn't have brought this team to the playoffs...the d game up too many game winning drives at the end of games to allow this team to do anything....

anyone who watched the packers this year know the defense and special teams were the big liability to this team....favre would not have been able to fix this team on his own....i loved favre as much as anyone when he was here, but this team had bigger issues than the QB situation. thompson needs a major overhaul on defense and somewhat on the O line...QB is set for the future. and if thompson doesn't get it done this offseason, then we need someone new to put the pieces together...
Posted Thursday January 08, 2009, About: Jones' comments irk Favre
research your stats....

2007 - 28 TD, 15 INT
2008 - 22 TD, 22 INT

favre was not the reason for the packers decline...and underperforming defense, shaky special teams. rodgers had a great season for a first year starter...favre wouldn't have taken the packers to the playoffs in any way shape or form....
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Hal Steinbrenner to Brewers: Mind your own business
yeah, call attanasio a phony. whatever. he has been the savior for the brewers after the crap we dealt with during the selig years. now that was a phony for an owner. finally someone willing to pay for the team and some talent. but still with limitations.

a salary cap is just a way to level the playing field. as previous people have said, the luxury tax is a disguise for capping. so the yankees get hit with a $27m tax...spread among teams...equals $1m per team...whoopty freaking doo. and, as someone else said, they operated in a loss this year...meaning that $27M is the shared portion, means nothing, but baseball will continue to say its "spreading the wealth". take a hint from the NHL, lock it up, cap it, and come back. yankees fans will always say no, cuz then they can't just outspend, even though they still win nothing. if you can't win with $200m, how can you will only $100m?
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Hal Steinbrenner to Brewers: Mind your own business
its can be crippling if you don't know how to properly operate it....the knicks just started throwing money at any and every player they could regardless of talent...now they are paying the price....wise cap spending and knowing your player personnel will keep you from making those mistakes....yes they are crippling, but are a result of inept management, not a problem of the cap....
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Hal Steinbrenner to Brewers: Mind your own business
spoken like someone who doesn't know anything but his own team....

attanasio stated publicly that with the acquisition of CC mid season that most likely they would be in the red as far as profit....meaning he ponied up money from his pocket to make the acquisition and subsequent playoff run. so he DID NOT pocket any money and leave the team out to dry. since mark a has taken over the brewers, he has risen payroll from under $40m to over $80m along with several costly improvements to miller park to make it more fan friendly....yeah sure sounds like someone buying a team just to make more money for himself....get some facts straight before lumping mark a in with owners such as the florida marlins, pittsburgh pirates, kc royals, etc.
Posted Friday January 02, 2009, About: Jet: Favre was aloof teammate
guess maybe ted thompson had reasons for jettisoning favre and going with rodgers...one less headache to deal with every year.

don't get me wrong, we all loved favre and what he has done for the packers organization. if he had stayed retired, he would still be loved by everyone. but the last 6-7 months or so have shown that favre needs a lot of attention and ego stroking to keep going. unreal how a 39 yr old veteran needs so much attention and having to be constantly told he's needed and this and that...

have fun new york...the favre offseason is just beginning...
Posted Friday December 19, 2008, About: Marbury pays steep price for publicity stunt
i'm gonna laugh when he finally gets out of the knicks organization and SURPRISE! no one wants to sign you for anything...maybe a league minimum....if that....or take your candy **** overseas and go quietly into the night.
Posted Thursday December 04, 2008, About: Welker OK with Steeler's hit
he's one tough little SOB.....took the hit, down for a little bit, then get back up and get after it....playin' a mans game and took the hit like a man....
Posted Thursday December 04, 2008, About: Angels shift focus from Sabathia
i was just going to mention david wells also....i swear he eats doughnuts in between pitches on the mound.....with a fresh cold one to wash it down....

CC has pitched 200+ innings consistently the past few years....doesn't that make it sound like he's more durable as opposed to more prone for breakdown? he was lights out for the brewers, even though pitching a lot in a short time frame. he man'd up. they asked if he wanted the ball, he didn't shy away. he'll hold up and he'll man up like the pitchers from back in the day....finish what ya start....
Posted Tuesday November 25, 2008, About: Angels shift focus to big Sabathia offer
exactly. if CC likes the brewers offer or the another NL team, wants to play in NL, even though its not as much as the yankees offer, what's to stop him??? the union can't force him to NOT sign the contract....union is only worried about what's best for them....jack up contracts and don't give a crap about what the player really wants.
Posted Monday November 24, 2008, About: Angels may affect Yankees' Sabathia deal
Which is a bunch of crap. Now, say for example, granted a long long shot, but its down to Brewers and Yankees, and CC wants the NL where he can hit and pitched very strongly down the stretch. Brewers are offering less, but if that's what he wants, that's what he should get, regardless of the what the union execs "think is best for him", but in all reality "its what's best for us".
Posted Friday October 17, 2008, About: MLBPA: Evidence teams froze out Bonds
i was thinking the same thing. Barry says "no I won't sign with you, I want to market myself" but then all of a sudden "I need your help". I would tell him to screw off, we have no reason to work for you since, in a way, you didn't work for us.....can't have it both ways Barry...now stay in retirement and fade into oblivion....
Posted Tuesday October 07, 2008, About: Will Brewers keep Sveum?
at least sveum is stressing the use of small ball and needing to fix the roster to do so....yost would have sat back, just waiting for everyone to hack their way out of a slump and hit home runs.....

"bunt???? are you a pitcher???? no???? then go and hack!!!" - yost
