I have no problem supporting my priest or church. Its unfortunate that bad things happen, that there are bad people, and that sometimes bad people have power. But to lose faith in everyone and everything because of a the bad is just as pointless.
How does it feel to give thousands to the government that uses it on wars that are unnecessary, that result in thousands of deaths? Where innocent woman and children are dying. How does it feel to support a government that starts wars in middle east, yet refuses to help stop an ongoing genocide in sudan?
Final this is a football blog, if you want to go and discuss something like that feel free to find a place. I came here to talk about football.
As for hammerred_everynight. I cannot tell you how glad I am to see such an upstanding Michigan fan. You must truly make your university proud. ... If you actually got in there.
This are only things that I have heard once or twice, and I would not be surprised if they were completely false. If anyone knows the truth please let me know.
As for our scheduling issues, it is not this year that worries me. It is the upcoming years where White has declared stanford a serious rival. We only play stanford because of academics. If we were to base rivalries off that, we should play vandy and duke every year also. Instead of declaring that a rival and giving them home and homes, we could roate them with other good academic institutions. With the proposed 7-4-1 model we don't have enough room to play the premiere teams. White has said we will not have room for alabama. If we can't find room for alabama, then what is the point of being an independent. An independent should be able to play who ever they want.
Not to mention the obvious contradiction in your post, which is only 3 sentences. You managed to contradict yourself in 3 sentences.
"The Notre Dame Hype Machine is going tos tall this year. You may want to beat a ranked team sometime before calling yourselves #1."
If the Hype Machine is going to stall we wouldn't be calling ourselves #1.
ND doesn't join a conference in football, because they don't have too. Most teams like conferences because it gaurentees them bowl bids if they are eligible, ND doesn't have to worry about that. They currently have one of the toughest schedules in the nation, starting off by playing against 3 top 25 teams with 2 of the games on the road. So ND is not afraid to play the top competition.
As for being greedy and all about the money, where in society is it not. I present to you two options One you can run your own successful business and keep all the profits for yourself, or you can join a business and share the profits with your partners. Now if you know that the two business will be recieving an equal profit, it makes the choice rather easy, doesn't it? Would you choose to share the profits or keep them? That is essential ND's options.
Lastly, do you really think ND cares that (insert random college football fan) thinks they are pansy, scared, wusses,... for not joining a conference. I don't. They apparently don't even care that the alumni hate the current AD Kevin White. So people grow up, ND is independent and will be. There is no point arguing it just as there is no point arguing the color of grass.
So please continue not caring and we will continue not being in the news.
I guess you just have an interesting way of showing uninterest, by posting many many times on every thread even remotely ND related. Even if that thread is about the best coaches and Weis is not mentioned because he was ineligable.
Stop this people don't care business. People care you are the best example. People care even if they wish they didn't. While we have not shown anything deserving a top 25 bid, ND is clearly on the rise. And that is why people care.
... Oh thats right he doesn't
But hey thanks for the useful comment.
How can everyone have so little respect for an instance where a man almost died. If you hate ND i don't care but you should always respect the sanctity of life.
and FYI Weis wasn't suing because he is still overweight, he was suing because he was bleeding internally for 30 hours and nearly died. This happened to caused him to have lost part of the feeling in his feet.
It just comes down to preference. I would not want Pete Carroll coaching my team with the game on the line, it is just that simple. If you would want him coaching your team, it is very justifiable, but I don't think he is one of the best ingame coaches. I think he is one if not the best overall coach.
Next year or 2 will determin if Weis deserves that same distinction. If he coaches as well as he has been recruiting, I don't forsee a problem though.
I just keep turning back to the USC-Texas match up, where VY just completely owned sc. Fourth and 1 game he could have punted and made the field 80 yards with only 2 minutes left. Carroll went for it by running Lendale White straight into the line, the one thing texas was waiting for, meanwhile his Heisman Trophy winner watched from the sideline. There were so many bad calls by Carroll in that game, and that texas team was closest in talent to carroll's team that he has faced.
Now I could be wrong I have not watched every single video tape of USC and he could have some games where he makes spectacular decisions, but I have yet to see it.
how do you respond. with a logical argument. No you mention nothing about how even with the talent gap decreasing USC will have the advantage because... you just say pete carroll.
I've said it once i'll say it again. Pete Carroll is an excellent recruiter and a great teacher. but a so-so in game coach. Weis will out coach carroll. Carroll failed in the NFL because you the talent gap is much less significant than in college, so therefore you need to be a good coach to win.
So far since USC has been a powerhouse, Carroll has had one game where the talent level was comparable I would say. and he lost that game to Texas. All the other Marquee match ups he has had he has blown out, which does not prove that he is a great coach, only that he knows how to prepare for games and has great talent. But in game he is not a good coach. You can talk about there comeback agains Oregon State, but they should have blown them away.
http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060105
There is an article that follows carrolls coaching through the most difficult game of his coach tenure at USC. there are numerous times in that game when he makes bad play calls that literally cost his team the game.
But don't get me wrong, Carroll is the best overall coach in college, but by far not the best in game coach.
For the record I don't think Weis has proven that he is elite yet, but i think he is headed in the right direction
Now usc's#1fan, come back with something other than Yeah well your mom, and I will respect your opinion.
Oh and about the BCS its not ND's fault that they get picked to go to the BCS that is completely out of their control. Are they suppose to turn down money because there might be another team more deserving. If someone offered you a raise but in doing so looked over a more deserving colleague would you take the raise? hell yeah you would. Blame the system for choosing ND if they qualify in terms of the standards set up by the BCS not ND.
I always have respected USC and they have had one of the best histories in college football.
USC has kicked our **** recently, but Michigan most certainly has not. It has been going back and forth as indicated by the record of 4-4 with a couple of blowouts on both sides. So half of your statement was false.
That implies that generally throughout the past USC and Michigan have beaten ND badly. Recently USC has, but not overall. And as for Michigan the series has been 4-4 over that past 8 years. You were the one that insinuated that ND loses yearly to both USC and Michigan. I was simply remarking upon the fact that ND has historically ahd a better record against USC and that ND had a nice streak against USC at one point. Which indicates that these type of streaks go back and forth. To believe that USC's run over ND will continue infinitely, is equally as ignorant to assume USC will never lose 5 straight to ND ever again.
