But he is also not obligated to sign with the team that drafted him either, period, in light of him having other options in Europe....not to mention his huge buyout, as has been mentioned repeatedly. So in effect, he is a free agent that can go wherever he wants to...and if that is Spain, then there is nothing OKC or whoever can do about it. Not fair to the American system? Since when is "fair" a fitting adjective to use in conjunction with many aspects of professional sports practices???

Doesn't matter. It is still the player's responsibility to check if it was banned or not. Only way Manny could possibly bring a civil suit if it the doc told him "hey this is harmless drug X I am prescribing for your swollen head" instead of what it really was.

I would put money on Army against A&M on a neutral field after last yr's A&M disaster.

The Jets D is nowhere near the caliber of the 2000 Ravens. Not even close. Good...but not that good.

No it's not.

If your franchise QB is a whiny b!otch who wasn't proven anything, is a brat, and has an agent who should keep his mouth shut, who cares?

What an old and tired argument. There is, in pro sports, no clause or rule that states a coach must play his "star" players for the sake of the fans. In a way it sucks, but the coach's obligation is to try and win a championship. Not pander to the fans. Do I like this, as a fan? Absolutely not. If I go to a game and the "stars" aren't playing, am I disappointed/irritated? Sure. But I would rather watch the scrubs play a generally meaningless game in the middle of the season, and watch my team do better later in the season/playoffs, hypothetically.

Your statement about financial penalties is beyond ludicrous. Good luck trying to enforce that one.

Because some of them are classless ****?
Posted Tuesday December 30, 2008, About: T-Wolves interested in Marbury?
Yes, and he also refused to play when asked to. God forbid he suit up for the team, regardless of the circumstances, that is paying him 21 million bucks...to play. Yes, both sides are guilty of stupidity, but since he is getting paid, he should get his cantankerous **** out there when needed as long as he is on the Knicks roster getting paid. I don't care if it is 100% Dolan's "fault" as you seem to think...even if you're absolutely right, he is getting paid to play, and is in breach of contract, in spirit anyway, by refusing while collecting a paycheck.

Who. cares.

Must be a slow day on the sports desk.

Yawn.

I said nothing, Mr. Scot, about his skill as a player. Try reading what I worte, if you can. What I said, and I will use small words so you can follow, is that he is a piece of you-know-what for refusing to play. Tell you what, buddy. When you go into work in the morning, tell your boss you won't work because you are butt-hurt about something, but that he still has to pay you....even if your boss is a jerk and has done you wrong, see how far that line of reasoning gets you.

Because he's getting paid nearly $22 million dollars to play. Period. Like it or not. Regardless of whether he and D'Antoni love or hate each other, you get your a** up and play when you are getting paid to be a pro.

I cannot believe there are nimrods actually defending that sad piece of s**t.

Awesome, well said. Lou was Tha Man back in the day, but now? Shoelaces, not spitting and not appearing to be a complete nimrod on national TV are his biggest challenges

Missouri will be lucky to not lose by more than 20 to whomever the Big XII South trots out against them.

The GM stock. Hands down.
Posted Thursday October 30, 2008, About: Saban prefers 'plus-one' BCS
Not if there are still two unbeatens from major BCS conferences still out there (Texas and Penn St). IF.

And you can't compare last year's 2-loss LSU to this year in any way, shape or form. There were no major unbeaten teams, everyone had at least one loss. This yr, you still have 3 majors and some mid-majors still unbeaten.

Not to mention that I would lay money on 'bama beating LSU, even at home. LSU suddenly appears to be unable to stop a grandma right now.

But I completely agree with the rest of what you said in response to PSU homer.

And this is why they are cellar-dwellers right now. If you think Tyler Thigpen is your solution, because of one decent game, then might be time to get your head checked.
