Posted Saturday April 27, 2013, About: College Football Playoff won't expand
Seriously? The guy who held steadfast against a playoff and totally, unapologetic-ally in favor of the BCS for so long is no in charge of the playoff? Of course he wants to limit it to 4 teams - and he'd prefer at least two from the SEC, if not three. Yep - 3 from the SEC and Notre Dame. Perfect!

This guy is an ****. Whoever put him in charge was either paid off by the networks or is just plain old stupid.

Seriously? This is like Congress appointing Wayne LaPierre to manage and promote gun control legislation.
Posted Saturday April 27, 2013, About: Rays considering another Joe Maddon gnome giveaway
Probably a good idea, since they can't sell tickets based on having a winning team and the crappiest stadium in pro sports!
Posted Saturday April 27, 2013, About: Can E.J. Manuel succeed in Buffalo?
The writer of the column didn't do his research. It seems that he is relying on Manuel's high completion rate to declare his accuracy as "good." In fact, his accuracy sucks! He had a ton of dump passes to backs in the FSU offense that ran the rate up. What's worse, he had some above average receivers who caught everything thrown their way - and since he had a habit of not putting the ball where they needed it they had problems gaining yardage after the catch. One scout declared that he has "area code accuracy," which is about the worst possible accuracy rating ( I suppose there's "continental accuracy," which would be even worse).

Quick: name the last FSU quarterback who made it in the NFL.

Buffalo really reached here - I guess that's what you get when you hire a college coach who wasn't even that great (25-25 at Syracuse - and he just got an NFL job? Seriously?). It's amazing that the Bills gave that much draft power to an unproven quantity such as a first year NFL coach - that's quite a leap of faith. His opinion on Manuel, which is vastly different from every report out there, most of which had Manual as the 6th best QB this year.

Of course, this is the franchise that felt Chan Gailey still knew how to coach in the NFL. Enjoy your extended playoff drought, Buffalo!

Wow - it's even worse than I thought!

Perhaps, but there's always that whole "education" thing.
Posted Wednesday February 13, 2013, About: Super Bowl on a Tuesday?
The people who attend playoff games typically live in the host city, and it's a "local" event.

The Super Bowl isn't remotely local. Most of the people who attend are from out of town. If last week's mega storm hit New York during Super Bowl weekend, it would be a disaster on all fronts. It would be hard to get people to the stadium, it would be hard to clear snow from the seating bowl, and it would be an all around poor experience for most attendees who had paid a boatload of cash just to get a ticket.

No question football is played in all kinds of weather, but for almost 50 years the Super Bowl has been played in ideal weather. It's rained exactly one time. That's what people want. It's also why no meaningful college bowl games are played in the north.
Posted Wednesday February 13, 2013, About: Super Bowl on a Tuesday?
As if there were any doubt that having a Super Bowl in an outdoor stadium in the north was a bad idea.
Posted Wednesday February 06, 2013, About: Should Flacco be NFL's highest paid? Agent says ... YES
Well, there's Eli, Aaron Rodgers, to name two. I don't think any FM in the NFL would take Flacco over Rodgers.
Posted Sunday January 13, 2013, About: Marlins owner muzzles team president
It's becoming clear that Loria is the worst owner of a pro team in the USA. He totally ripped off the Dade County taxpayers, he micromanages an entity in which he has no expertise and little experience or knowledge, and now we learn that he plays the blame game as well.

If I were Dade County, I'd try to seize the team via eminent domain.
Posted Friday December 07, 2012, About: Chris Petersen shoots down latest rumors
Chris Petersen has had plenty of opportunities to move to a big-time program. He won't. He's comfortable knowing that he'll win 10 a year, and is willing to roll the dice on winning the one or two games each season BSU plays against actual competition. The LAST thing he wants is to play a major conference schedule (and please, the Big East doesn't provide that).
Posted Wednesday October 03, 2012, About: Jets owner would rather have Mitt Romney win than his team
At least now we know that the dysfunction of the New York Jets starts at the top. When the owner doesn't put team first, why should anybody else?
Posted Wednesday October 03, 2012, About: Sponsorship driving Harrison twins to Terps?
Under Armour's founder is the hugest Maryland booster. How in the name of God is this NOT a recruiting violation?

Seriously - does the NCAA have its head so far up its ass that it overlooks something as blatant as this?
Posted Saturday September 22, 2012, About: Cop who ticketed Dabo Swinney fired
Swinney and his brother are shameless. Playing the celebrity card in front of the Bi-Lo? Please!
Posted Sunday September 02, 2012, About: Ryan Braun still hearing steroids jeers
He'd better get used to it, because he's going to hear it for the rest of his career, and again when he's not voted into the Hall of Fame. He cheated - got it reversed on a technicality, but never denied the positive results of the test.
Posted Sunday August 26, 2012, About: Penn State to debut uniform changes
I only hope the team isn't booed when they take the field on the road. None of these players or coaches had any culpability in the horrors that took place under Paterno.
Posted Wednesday August 08, 2012, About: Rose objects to 'Fab Five' moniker for gymnasts
Oh Jalen - calling the Olympic Gold Medal team the Fab Five isn't a play on the Michigan basketball team. It's a play on the Beatles, who were called the Fab Four. The difference? The gymnastics team, like the Beatles, were champions of their realm...unlike the Michigan basketball team.

Maybe you should ask Chris Weber if you need (another) Time Out?
Posted Wednesday July 25, 2012, About: Vols have contacted Penn State players
This surprises me. It's one thing to allow PSU players to transfer, but it's another thing altogether to allow other schools to solicit their transfer. The NCAA is off their rocker, and should just go ahead and stop pretending to be all about fair play and "student-athletes." Seriously.
Posted Sunday July 01, 2012, About: Can Edsall open a Baltimore pipeline?
Okay...so it is legal and/or ethical for the high school coach to try to persuade a kid to go to a specific college? I guess not, at least until the coach suddenly becomes an "assistant" with said college.

Doesn't pass the smell test, though.
Posted Sunday July 01, 2012, About: McNabb eyeing 'about three teams' for NFL return
Well, it's starting to look more and more like Shanahan wasn't the moron in the whole McNabb-Redskins rediculousness. McNabb CLEARLY can't play any longer - he stunk up the place in D.C. and then in his attempt to reclaim his career stunk up the place in Minny. Time to hang them up, Donovan. Go get your number retired in Philly (and endure the segment of the crowd who will undoubtedly boo).
Posted Tuesday May 22, 2012, About: Heckert expects Weeden to win 'open competition'
Exhibit 1025 as to why the Cleveland Browns will never be a great NFL franchise again. It's an open competition, but we've already picked the winner. Nice!
Posted Sunday May 13, 2012, About: Basketball, Gators behind Fla. State's Big 12 interest
Fisher (and the rest of FSU) is flat-out delusional. FSU hasn't won an ACC championship since 2005, and he thinks they're too good for the conference? I wonder what he's going to say to the non-revenue sports when the realize their closest conference road game is 680 air miles away. Those athletes, who are usually actual students, ate going to LOVE that, especially.the mid-week games.

FSU has a hard time handling Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and North Carolina - and he wants to play Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia every year? Brilliant!
