... Eastern Conference Finals, three 50+ win seasons in a row, etc.
No glass slipper... but not lottery bound either.
... they're now doing janitorial on the interior of schools and office buildings.
Mexicans clean the streets and housing developments.
... I'm not just naming Manny.
Floyd Jr. is taking performance enhancers as well.
Something Floyd Sr. DIDN'T state.
As I've stated many times, I have no favorites in the sports world... just objective viewpoints with some subjective commentary.
I believe most professional athletes are using banned substances... and that includes Manny AND Floyd.
... just check all the maintenance and street workers.
Lots of people "settle"... mainly because the courts promote settlement when possible.
Know how many cases get settled everyday in court? More than 80%.
There are not enough judges in each county to litigate every complaint filed.
However, these guys perform when it counts (playoffs and big games) and thrive under that pressure.
... high criticism/high reward.
Some personalities thrive in that environment.
I've already mentioned three... there are many more.
... check the stats historically.
Ray's best games have been against Bryant over the years.
... Gasol trade put them over top.
Prior to obtaining Gasol they were an average team, not a Finals team. Bynum had not yet become effective.
Since acquiring Gasol, Bynum has also improved greatly.. and the Lakers are benefitting.
If Gasol were not there, and Bynum had not progressed, they would be the same team Bryant was crying to escape from three years ago.
Either way, it's his choice.
Malone AND Payton had both been to the Finals before... they wanted a ring... so, it was still a failure.
... because a high five is nothing to write a story about.
Would it be a New York Post article if it were Peyton Manning high fiving a ref?
... they were competitive.
Unlike today's version.
Trying to take (what he perceives) to be an easier route to a title.
Again, funny how those "easy routes" are not always smooth.
... think Derek Jeter, Reggie Jackson, or Lawrence Taylor would be who they became if they weren't performing in NY?
Funny how those apparently "easy rings" are not easily obtained.
... guess you're referring to not winning a "title" during the 90's.
Only one team wins the "title"... but they were certainly top 3 in the NBA between 1991-1995.
... and you're right.
Patrick Ewing was ridiculed quite harshly during his Knicks years when the Knicks were losing, and even during the Pat Riley years.
However, HE was still productive... although his personality was more low-key.
