Sorry to disagree but - what is broken? Big spending has not been the key to success. Look at the play-off teams last year - a mixture of small medium and large budget teams.
This is a scout that either really dislikes the guy or really loves the guy.... my point being unnamed scouting reports before the draft are as likely to be talking down a guy you like as they are an honest opinion of the player
What? Collusion is when a group of employers (read teams) get together to artifically lower the costs of fielding a team by agreeing to not bid on the services of each others free agents or setting unwritten rules about salary ranges for players. How did that happen here?
One team called another about trading a player under contract. The other team returned the call. They agreed on the exchange of play for a draft pick. What am i missing?
Wiseup - the issue is the pick. Nobody wants to pay and give up the 1st round pick. Only way giving up the pick makes sense is if you can sign him for more than 1 year. Problem is he is holding out for big dollars. Natural landing spot without the pick is for him to take less money for 1 year and try again. Ultimately I think this guy signs for 2 years at ~$8MM per year with a club option at $8MM for a third year with a $4MM buyout. Boras can say he got a minimum of 20MM guarranteed and the club gets a mid rotation starter for $8MM per year for 3 years if he is effective.
Really ??!! you guys don't see any team wanting to add one of the best CB's if not best CB in the league to their team. Negotiations are always a pain but in this case you agree with the Jets on a package of picks. a Low 1st round or high 2nd round pick plus 2 late picks (say a 5 and 6th) then you have 2 days to negoatiate. If it works and he agreed to a reasonable price great if not you don't do the trade. What's the downside for you as the new team? I can see why the jets woudl hate it if the trade feel through because Revis will be pissed but as the new team why would you care?
This is Dusty assuming he will get what he wants and gibson deciding to say no. If they wanted to solve it they could have. By the way Dusty Choo could jut pinch hit for someone. (of course if i was gibson i would have walked him intentionally just to piss you off)
The reset is 189MM they have only 81.6 on officially - but assuming reasonable ARB settlements and Jeter re-signing they sit at ~$100MM for 2014.
In 2013 they have $200MM if you exclude the 8.5 they will pay AJ Burnett to not play for them (which is gone after this year) so instead of filling out the roster with 100 like this year they do it with $89MM - not that hard with what they have coming off the books.
No one has ever gotten one hundred percent of the votes. Ever.
Tom Seaver holds the record at 98.84 percent. Cal Ripken, Jr. is third (and first among hitters) with 98.53 percent. Babe Ruth made it on 95.13 percent of his ballots.
This offense is going to get better no matter what system they use - Luck will mature (not that he did not play well last year) and improve his consistency
