Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Braves plan to acquire starting pitchers
The Braves need pitching period. They have a good core of non pitchers. Brian McCann is one of the best catchers in the league and Chipper is coming off a career year. Casey Kotchman, Kelly Johnson, and Yunel Escobar are good fits in the infield while Francoeur marring a comeback would hold down rightfield. One of the young prospects could get an outfield position, maybe someone like Brandon Jones. They could go out and try to trade for Matt Holliday which would boost their power numbers. They need pitching though. CC would be nice but probably won't happen. Ryan Dempster and Derek Lowe would fit good, but if the Braves could somehow put together a package of prospects that could possible land someone like Roy Oswalt, Jake Peavy, or maybe even Brandon Webb it would be awesome.
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Dodgers, Mets, Yankees eyeing Sabathia?
If the Braves could somehow get involved in this he would bring a much needed arm to a decimated staff. I also heard the Angels were interested. What a rotation that would be: CC Sabathia, John Lackey, Ervin Santan, Joe Saunders, Jered Weaver = Domination
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Will Dodgers bring back GM?
Andruw Jones needs a return to Atlanta under Bobby Cox to get his career back.
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Twins consider extending Gardenhire
Awesome move by the Twins. Gardenhire has proven to be a genius in Minnesota orchestrating the past season like he did all the way to a one game playoff with the White Sox. It was one game closer to the postseason that Johan got.
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Sources: Other teams wanted Cashman
Why would anybody want Cashman? He likes to throw huge amounts of money at washed up or unproven players. Examples: Carl Pavano, Johnny Damon, Randy Johnson He apparently is not good at acquiring young talent proven by some of his busts shown this year. Examples: Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy Not to mention some of his awesome trades such as that "season changing" one for Ivan Rodriguez. He also fired one of the greatest coaches of all time who is sitting in the playoffs with his new pal Manny right about now while A-Rod and Giradi sit at home. A real genius of a GM would have to be John Schurhoelz when he was the gm for the Braves. Let me know when Cashman can put together a string of AL East titles like the Braves did in the NL East under Schurhoelz.
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Teammate critical of Hanley Ramirez
Hanley Ramirez is the cornerstone and face of this franchise now, he should be put in the position where he can be most productive. Jorge Cantu and Ricky Nalasco had great years but this team would not have stood a chance without Hanley Ramirez.
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Phillies outfielder tweaks back
Come on people. If it were Ryan Howard or Chase Utley going down then there would be reason for concern. Pat Purrel is a very good player but if the big stars of this team step up like they are capable of doing then this will not be a problem. The Phillies are based on pitching anyway.
Posted Wednesday October 01, 2008, About: Mets open to trading Wright, Reyes?
I really do not like the Mets mainly because of my admiration of the Braves. I could not have been happier seeing them miss out on the playoffs for the second consecutive year. I do want to say something about trading David Wright and Jose Reyes, though. Those two guys are the cornerstone of the franchise. Yes they definitely need bullpen help, but trading either one of these two guys would be devestating both to fan support and overall performance of the team.
