Posted Wednesday September 30, 2009, About: USC QB still feeling pain
As far as Stanford goes, they were once called the Indians. The student body didn't like that moniker, so they voted to call themselves the Trees sometime in the early 70's. The University brass didn't like that so they compromised and settled for the Cardinal, but let the tree mascot stay.
Posted Thursday December 04, 2008, About: Carroll has NFL options
This BS comes up every year. Carroll has absoutly NOTHING to prove in the NFL. He's where he needs to be, in college. Fight On!!!!
Posted Thursday December 04, 2008, About: USC receiver to transfer
Sorry to hear about his grandfather. If I were him, I'd go D-II. That way he doesn't miss any playing time and he might be able to make a name for himself and go pro.
Posted Tuesday December 02, 2008, About: Empty seats for OU-OSU Bedlam?
More and more schools do this not necessarily out of greed but to keep the others team's fans out. If your team isn't drawing well, why would you want a majority of the fans in your own stadium to be for the other team? I have no clue how big OKST stadium is, so I have to go with what I know. The Rose Bowl holds about 95,000. If UCLA had the ticket policy y'all are suggesting, 55,000 of those seats would be occupied by Trojan fans this Saturday. Not much of a home field advantage. It's more about maintaining the home field advantage and not so much about greed. Then again, I'd just buy the mini pack and sell what I didn't want on stub hub or another place like that.
Posted Tuesday December 02, 2008, About: Can Kiffin recruit the Southeast?
The Oakland job is nothing but a coach grinder as long as Davis is calling the shots. Lane will do well at Tennessee. It looks like he's surrounding himself with good assistants. Go Kiffin!!!
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Notre Dame still landing LA-area recruits
I can remember the days when the USC-ND game would decide the Nat'l Champ. I long for those days to return. I long for the days when a 24-6 halftime deficit turns into a 55-24 stomping. I want this game to be relevent in the nat'l picture once again. Even if USC had lost yesterday, they were longshots to get to the nat'l title game anyhow. A good ND team is good for college football. Give Charlie one more year. If he doesn't do it with his recruits, then axe him. I wish him all the luck in the world, except when they play USC.
Posted Sunday November 23, 2008, About: Neuheisel: UCLA QB needs work
UCLA is going to be a marginal team at best for a few years to come because of their QB situation.
Posted Sunday November 23, 2008, About: UCLA lineman's future unclear
Neuheisel is gonna need more than commitment to change "the football monopoly in Los Angeles" over to Westwood. I think the monopoly HQ will be at Heritage Hall for a while.
Posted Wednesday November 05, 2008, About: Arizona AD won't let Withey transfer
The kid should follow the trend and play one year and turn pro.
Posted Thursday October 16, 2008, About: Notre Dame suspends Yeatman
If I were ND, I'd kick him not just off the team but out of school and make sure the DA prosecutes him to the fullest extent of the law. This kid needs a "kick in the butt" and it appears all his Dad will do is hand him another beer.
Posted Thursday October 16, 2008, About: USC's McKnight out against WSU
Politics aside, this shouldn't be a problem for the Trojans. I don't think they'll cover the 42 point spread, but missing McKnight shouldn't keep them from winning.
Posted Monday October 13, 2008, About: OSU coach denies running up score
If WSU defense can't stop OSU offense from scoring, that's their problem. Deal with it and quit whining like a bunch of pansies.
Posted Thursday October 09, 2008, About: Injury may cause Paterno to retire
He's like a lot of the WWII generation, tough as nails. My father is a few years older than JoePa and is still farming. I may be USC and Fresno St. fan, but I love it that JoePa is still coaching. Love to play him in the Rose Bowl. Go Coach!!
Posted Tuesday October 07, 2008, About: Inside Wisconsin band probe
First of all, chill out. It's good that you are passionate about your chosen profession but your post is a little over the top. Yes, I like to hear the fight song and alma mater at football games. The band brings the school spirit which is why college football is WAY better than the NFL. You have to be in some kind of shape to lug around a tuba in a wool uniform in September. Stick up for your fellow band people, but leave the anger at home.
Posted Tuesday October 07, 2008, About: Why Trojans may start backup QB
I think Mustain will do a good job. Let's at least give him a chance before we run him out of town. If he has a few passes like he did to Ausberry, we'll win.
Posted Tuesday October 07, 2008, About: USC: Mustain gets reps while Sanchez sits
Being on the west coast, I don't know all of the stories of Mustain. He could be a starter at most other college football teams. At USC, he would be one of many and I'm sure his parents understood that before he transferred. USC has Mustain, Corp, and will have Barkley next year when Sanchez leaves. As long as he competes, he'll have a shot and that's all any parent should want.
