Not even a top 5 rivalry in the west.

Idiotic comment, and the opposite of funny. Not entertaining. Just lacking in any clear thought, wit, and humor. You are just announcing your idiocy. Nothing more.

Yes, and it not even remotely among the greatest of college football rivalries. Sorry.
However, if it is possible to say that there is one greatest Olympian, Michael Phelps in certainly in the top 5 to 10. Therefor any claims that he is not close to being the greatest are wrong, and reek of idiocy.
I'm inclined to agree that Phelps had the most chances to win medals due to the fact that swimming has several events for him to enter. I like the Clara Hughes comment (Canadian woman who has won multiple medals in summer and winter games). So many great Olympians who have only one chance to medal per Olympics - for example Teofilo Stevenson. What about the 1992 Dream Team? (Might be considered due to margin of victory. No one else won by a greater degree compared to the silver). If being the greatest Olympian requires the following: long time frame competing (multiple Olympics), medals, World records, then Phelps should be considered. What about Nadia Comenici? Perfect score. Several medals. Oh, this is impossible. Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympic SWIMMER of all time. Greatest Olympian? Impossible to name only one person. Most medals, and most gold medals, Yes, Michael Phelps has that.
