Im not gonna say I'm sorry, cause I'm not.

This was the first time in a longgggggg time that Duke and UNC went head to head.

Roy is a better recruiter and until he wins that 3rd title, K is the better coach.

Barnes has been in hiding since 2pm. The Gym holds 3,000 people and is already half full.

Cue the Band!

Yes, I have an account on InsideCarolina.com

The correspondent there from UNC is giving updates about every 20 minutes. Since 6:30 this morning. Everything around there is still on lock. The biggest buzz about it is that no info has been leaked concerning his decision, and that the Coaches themselves that he spoke with last night were not given any answers or tips about which way he was leaning.

Live Blog from Ames, Iowa: Harrison Barnes Attire for the special day, "He's decked out in Jordan gear from head to toe"

Is that a sign ... I will act like it's one so I'm more confident heading into 4pm.

He's got those schools on his list because he understands, recognizes, and appreciates the great Tradition that these schools possess. UNC, Duke, Kansas, these schools are College Basketball. Going to one of these programs, guarantees that he will be playing with elite talent around him, just as he will do when he goes to the NBA. It's good preparation for a player both mentally and physically to learn to play with great players. He could go to an NC State or a Virginia and play in the big-time conference on a smaller market team, but being the star on a team isn't his top priority. Him attending NC State and averaging 28 ppg on 25 shot attempts a night doesn't prove anything to anyone, just that he is the schools star and only option.

Could you imagine taking a visit to UNC, and watching the Alumni Game. Seeing stars like (Rasheed Wallace, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Antawn Jamison, Michael Jordan, James Worthy) and then having them walk up to you and tell you about how this is one big family, it's an elite fraternity. Tradition is important to some, exposure is important to others, academics are import to some (few) aswell.

I hope he puts on that UNC Hat this afternoon. Go Heels.

We'll see in 3 hours.

All along it's been talk that he was a Duke Lock. I have felt he still is, even though UNC made up a considerable amount of ground after recruiting him late. I'm glad that UNC is on his final list. He's a great kid that I see stickin around for 3 years. He will graduate in 3 years from whatever school he goes to unless he experiences injury problems early.

They Agreed? In writing? I didn't see Barnes sitting next to Irving at Irvings Signing Day ... You would think if they agreed to go to Duke together they would do a Dual Signing Day ...

It's odd to me that Harrison Barnes continued to look at schools after this Summer since he had "all but signed on the dotted line" to attend Duke. It's also weird that he invited Roy back for the last in-home visit, after Coach K left, because he had some more questions he wanted to ask Roy. It's odd that Harrison's high school teammate was interviewed at a ISU exhibition game, and said his guess is "Iowa State or Carolina". I also forgot how all friends attend the same College as a package deal (Oden and Conley, Derozan and Lil'Romeo). How about guys like, Lawson & Durant or Ellington & Henderson.

The reason there is a lot of speculation is because the guy hasn't tipped his hand to any school. Irving doesn't know. The Coaches don't know. We are all trying to find any one action and run with it as if it says that Barnes is leading towards our school. Hell, Barnes doesn't know, today was the day that Roy, K, Howland, Capel, Self were all making there last pitch to Barnes, which would say that he hasn't made up his mind because if he has he wouldn't have even listened to those last pitch's the day before he signs.

In 25 Hours we'll know. I'll be here to discuss it. Win or Lose.

But I gotta feeling that tomorrow night, Roscoe Smith will be getting an offer from Coach K.

Strickland was recruited as a PG. Drew II was the only one we had coming back. It's not because "Drew is so Average", it's because Roy believes in having depth in the backcourt, you know, more than three scholarship guards capable of contributing.

I hope he comes to UNC just because we having landed the top player in the country since Sheed. I love the way he has handled the whole situation and process, first class all the way. If he goes to Duke, I will be interested in seeing the matchup between him and Henson twice a year (from what I've seen from Henson so far, he's not a one and done).

Good Luck to Duke

UCLA, Kansas, Okla, ISU, I feel he's landing on Tobacco Road, just not sure if he'll land on the good side or the bad side.

If he had already committed to Duke, Chris Collins would have already leaked it to the media just as he did with Kyrie Irving. Everyone here can speculate all they want, but the kid has done an amazing job keeping his cards close. He has not shown any lean towards any program.

Although we do know that: Duke had been told they would get the last in-home visit with Barnes, then we find out that Roy was actually the last in-home. We also know that Duke was supposed to be the last official visit for Barnes, then he rescheduled and had UCLA as his last official visit.

So looking at that from anyone else's eyes (other than a Duke Fan) Barnes switched up twice and Duke got the last word in neither event.

UCLA should really be considered up there with Duke and UNC (even though I feel he's landing on tobacco road, just don't know which side) In his online journal he said he had an amazing trip to LA, met former players, and also was treated to lunch by none other than John Wooden.

We'll find out Friday which school will be the favorites for the 2011 Title, I'm just glad this is almost over, this recruitment has really cut into me getting any work done. Hope to see you at the Hill Mr. Barnes.

Go Heels!

Miles was a Freshman last year at Duke. Mason is the new Plumlee. Ryan Kelly isn't a strong post player, he's more of a hybrid 3/4 with a strong face-up game.

Duke of Acie:

1. Scheyer and Smith is pretty equal with the Backcourt of Drew and Ginyard (I suspect that to be UNC's opening day backcourt). Scheyer edges Drew, Ginyard Edges Smith. I'll take that as a wash. Then off the bench you bring in freshman Dawkins. 3 Scholarship guards. We can bring in, Strickland, McDonald, Watts. All very capable ball-handlers. McDonald a well built two guard who had a solid mid-range game and is a great defender. Strickland's speed can be compared to Ray Felton (I saw him blow past him a few times in the NC Pro Am this Summer). And Watts has experience, a great athlete, and most players improve the most between Fresh and Soph year.

2. Singler may be a pre-season 2nd team all-american but not 1st. The guy was 2nd Team All-ACC last year. Too many big names already but come seasons end he could very well be a first teamer. But, so could John Henson. Unique skill set. If he plays starters minutes, he could come out and suprise us all and put up Durant like efficiency numbers. If that happens he would have a shot at ACC POY.

3. Carolina also has 6 players 6'9 or above (Thompson, Davis, Wear, Wear, Henson, Zeller)
And those guys are likely in the rotation. Roy will play his freshman. Can't say the same about K until half way through the season when he remembers he has some Burger Boys on the bench who haven't sniffed the court.

UNC and Duke are top shelf. But considering we have all the momentum in this rivalry right now. I wouldn't start counting us out yet when we have just as much talent on our roster as Duke. With all but 5 of those players have Final Four experience.

On to the real story. Barnes finalized his decision Timeline.

Oct 2. Oklahoma-official visit
Oct 9. UCLA-official visit
Oct 16. Kansas-official visit
Oct 23. Duke-official visit
Nov 6. Iowa St (Unofficial Visit)

Took his first Official visit to Carolina the weekend of Sept 4.

He says that he will be ready to announce his decision during the Fall November 11-18 Signing Period.

Good Luck.

Come to the Hill. Be a stud immediatly with early playing time. Get to stand on the sidelines and watch a great defense. Run in a Pro-Style offense under Butch Davis. Oh and you will be able to see the Basketball team continue their run of excellence and probably be there while Roy decides to win another Title.

Jim.

Trust me, any fan who is realistic will not expect the same type of game-changing moments from LDII that we had from Tywon and Ray. LD has a very high basketball IQ (echo what you said about his father) and Roy wouldn't give him the keys to this racecar if he didn't have confidence he could do the job. I don't expect him to score an easy layup going coast to coast after a made basket (as Lawson was the only person I've ever seen be able to do that consistently). I expect him to manage the game, I think he will run the Half-Court game very well with our big men. I want him early in the season to look for and take that open 3 point shot that he will be given (McDonalds AA 3-point Champion). He showed flashes of quality PG play last year, it's tough to come in behind Ty and not try to keep playing to his level.

And as well all know. College players take their biggest steps up improvement from their Freshman to Sophomore years.

He was more effective than Drew because he didn't make mistakes. He also didn't take chances and played in an extremely slow set offense, where he would pass the ball to one of the other 3 wing players on the floor and watch them jack up a three. He would have averaged 10 turnovers per game if he attempted to run an offense like the Heels, because he'd be making full-court passes to his teammates because he's too slow to run an offense like Roy's

Ahhh....Johnny Dawkins. The guy who was in line to take Coach K's seat as Duke Head Coach, but he saw the direction the program was heading and jetted across the country.
Posted Friday September 18, 2009, About: UNC edging Duke for country's best recruit?
Ahhh. Harrison Barnes is a lock for Duke. That's funny. I wouldn't imagine a lock for Duke making visits to UNC for a great basketball game and football game and then say it was a phenomenal weekend. It's even funnier that after his weekend visit to Chapel Hill and he made it known to the public how great of a time he had, Coach K (who has this kid locked up) decided to make a trip of desperation to Iowa to make sure he was still in the picture. And then Tuesday evening, Roy was in Iowa for an official in-home visit with this kid that is already pretty much on Duke's roster. And after he left Iowa he cancelled a previously scheduled recruiting trip to visit another 2010 wing prospect. And Barnes has come out and said he may not have to wait until the spring signing period to commit.

But this is all probably nonsense, because according to you Barnes has all-but committed to Duke.

But if Barnes does sign with Duke I won't be suprised if he transfers out after one year and Coach K brings in a mid-major freshman. (I.E. Taylor King Transfers ... Seth Curry Transfers In)
