The exact DMN blog post:

That's simply inaccurate. The Walden pick was acquired for NT Jason Ferguson. The Cowboys and Dolphins swapped sixth-rounders in the '08 draft, and the Cowboys will get Miami's sixth-rounder in '09 for the veteran nose tackle who would have been released if he wasn't traded.

And the picks were hardly inconsequential. When the smoke cleared -- after trades with Oakland, Cleveland and Jacksonville -- Jerry Jones and Co. turned the Dolphins' fourth-rounder into RB Tashard Choice and CB Orlando Scandrick. Those guys far exceeded expectations as rookies and should be parts of the Cowboys' core for years to come.

But it's still reasonable to wonder why the Cowboys were willing to accept only a fourth-round pick for two players who are starting for a playoff team.

The answer: Ayodele wouldn't have had a role on the Cowboys, and folks around Valley Ranch didn't believe in Fasano.

The deal was Fasano for the 100th overall pick until the Dolphins' brass (a bunch of recent Valley Ranch residents) asked about Ayodele. Jerry, who had signed Zach Thomas to replace Ayodele in the starting lineup, agreed to include the veteran LB as a throw-in. It was a shrewd move by Miami, a salary dump by Dallas.

The view from Valley Ranch was that Fasano wasn't as good a blocker as the Cowboys wanted in their No. 2 TE. They identified that as a position they could upgrade in the draft, snatching Martellus Bennett in the second round.

Fasano had an outstanding season for the Dolphins, catching 34 passes for 454 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns in a WR-deficient offense.

Bennett's stats as a rookie (20 catches, 283 yards, 4 TDs) were a significant upgrade over the numbers Fasano posted as a Cowboy, and he fulfilled expectations as a blocker. In the eyes of the Cowboys, they accomplished their goal of upgrading this position.

As a Dodger fan that used to live in San Fran and therefore had to endure those crazy nights where I was lucky to make it to my car, I say, with all due respect, if you can't brave the storm, watch it on tv.

This is typical media overhype in Dallas. At 4-1 and very close to 5-0. All I care about is winning four out of every five and taking it home in February. The Dallas media has blown this pacman thing so far out of proportion it should be criminal. All that matters is beating the Cards and moving on.

After serving those meatballs at Wrigley for three batters, he should be sat down. Wade and Beimel can set up for Broxton.

He looked pretty good in the game and practices that I saw. Nothing spectacular. He had a nice PP goal in one of the games. His linemates varied, but he was on a Modano line more than a few times and he should be on the second PP unit (I am guessing). We needed someone like him to take the place of Hagman (what was that contract all about in Toronto?) but Brett Hull will ship him down in a minute. Fragile psyche or not.
