Posted Wednesday April 29, 2009, About: Irabu attempting comeback
When Hideki Irabu came to the New York Yankees, George Steinbrenner thought he would be excellent and that he would fit in perfectly with the championship calliber Yankees lineup and the dominating pitching staff of Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, David Wells, David Cone, and Orlando Hernandez. He had one good year and that was in 1998, when he put up 20 wins in a spectacular year for him in the Yankees 114 win season and the World Series title over the Padres. But what the Yankee owner forgot to thonk about Irabu was that it's different pitching in Japan that it is in the big city of New York. He was a bust but the Angels might need him because of losing Lackey to the DL, Adenhart, and Ervin Santana, that team has been given up lots of runs to offensive busts such as Seattle and Cleveland.
Posted Wednesday April 29, 2009, About: Hamilton, Prince to Hornets?
What happened to the Motor City Machine Gun Detroit Pistons of the old days when they defeated the Shaq and Kobe Lakers in the Finals. At that point, they were a team and they played like as they shared the ball and had a balanced offense and outstanding defense with Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton, and Chauncey Billups. Billup has gone off to Denver and made an instant star inpact right there by getting them the number 2 spot in the West. Ben Wallace went off to Chicago and then went to Cleveland and had the number one spot there. They are inportant people and know they have Allen Iverson and a season coming up that will be terrible. Billups was the franchise player and his departure leaves Detroit with a hole they have to face and the team that made the Eastern Conference Finals 5 times in a row will not likely be there in the next few years. Making this trade will be a huge mistake and David West playing with Allen Iverson will be a show and a bad season for Detroit. They need a point guard and trading for Jason Terry won't be a bad move at all because Rodney Stuckey is getting beaten by guys like Andre Miller and Mo Williams. This has not been good and this Pistons team has to do something before the situation gets worse.
Posted Sunday April 12, 2009, About: Why Angels may go after Pedro
The Angels are in deep trouble and they may have to consider Pedro Martinez or bring someone back from retirement such as Greg Maddux, Mike Mussina, or Curt Schilling. Right now they have 3 injured starters and they will come back when the Angles have a bad reconrd. Right now Jered Weaver and Joe Saunders are the only regular starters in the rotation. Adenhart was a replacement but his death is leading to serious pitching problems in the organization. It would be a great move until Lackey and Santana come back and then they will return to being the dominating team that they have been since 2001.
Posted Sunday April 12, 2009, About: Will Jets swipe WR from Cowboys?
Good pickup but I think the Jets should have gotten Jon Kitna in the package because Brett Favre just retired and they need someone to throw to all these guys. Kellen Clemens will lead the team into hell if he starts so they should have traded for Jon Kitna who is an experienced guy that the Cowboys didn't need because they have Tony Romo who rarely gets injured except for 3 games last year. Kitna is a waste and the Cowboys will be paying him too much money to sit on the bench all year. The Jets needed him and it was a very dumb move to get Miles Austin. Last year they had a great offense led by Brett Favre and Jon Kitna still has 2 or 3 good years left in him to play ball.
Posted Sunday April 12, 2009, About: Do refs have Kobe's back?
Any referee has to be on Kobe Brynat's side. They are not on his side but they have respect for him for what he has done to the game. He is one of the best players and you have to realize that and sometimes cut him some slack. He is not a fault but sometimes you can play a little physical. Some refs are different making their calls. The referee against the Chicago Bulls was reffing a different type of game than some other guys do. Give the guy some space, he gets fouled 3 times as much as he fouls other players and sometimes they don't call fouls that he draws and are clear fouls. They are just laying off because the game is not as physical as before and if the refs mess with Kobe, Kobe and his gang will go AWOL on them.
Posted Saturday January 24, 2009, About: Mets don't want Manny
Manny Ramirez will be playing in New York next season but not for the New York Mets. The Mets have plenty of hitting and the pitching continues to improve as they signed Freddy Garcia. They have to let Pedro sign with another team because he is not needed and Oliver Perez needs to stay because he has a few years left in him to pitch. John Maine looks good and has looked good in the couple of years that he has played in but Pelfrey is still a question and he might need to get traded. Manny wanted to go to the New York Mets a couple of years ago to reunite with his ex-Red Sox teammate, Pedro Martinez. Well, Martinez will leanve soon so I think Manny should consider the Yankees and their new stadium.
Posted Saturday January 24, 2009, About: Jets owner wants Favre back
The Jets have two young quaretrbacks that can still play but they haven't played in a while. They have Erik Ainge who came from Tennessee and he did a great job there of leading his team to a couple of bowl games in his time and Philip Fullmer liked him. He should be used. They have Kellen Clemens who did a decent job when Chad Pennington was injured late in the season in 2006. So there is no problem. The rookie and the backup have to develop into good quarterbacks to replace the world's greatest passer who happens to be 39. He is getting old and he will not be able to play anymore in a couple of years. The Jets have to play it right and not let Brett Favre come back. He did a bad job last year and went 1-4 after going 8-3. He was going to make the playoffs but he started to screw up and those last few games made a difference in his team making the playoffs and if he will have his job next season as Jets starting quarterback. If I were the Jets owner, I would not want him back forever.
Posted Saturday January 24, 2009, About: Varitek no closer to Red Sox deal
He is an old guy. Why would the Red Sox sign him anyway. If he agrees, he is making the right choice because declining would make him a free agent forever because no one wants him. He played terribly last year and that will continue this year. He is lucky that he is making that much because that is a lot for him to be making. He didn't even play well when it counts in the playoffs but the Red Soc still love him even though he sucks and can't do anything right. They should use Josh Bard because he is young and make Varitek a backup or send him down to the minor leagues so he can play with guys that are half as old as him. He will choke when the ime comes for the Red Sox next year so do something and make the offer smaller.
Posted Thursday January 22, 2009, About: Red Sox open to extending Papelbon
Well, Jonathan Papelbon is young and just like Mariano Rivera, he will be playing for his Boston Red Sox for a long time because he is very young and he can really pitch in any situation. They can put him in as a closer or start him but he has been lights out so far in his career and has never been put on the disabled list so he looks like he will have an impressive career with the always playoff-bound Red Sox in that tough division. I can't wait to see him pitch in the long run. Give him a few years and he will succeed just like he has succeeded in his career at this point so we'll see what happens.
Posted Thursday January 22, 2009, About: Favre or Lewis in Jets future?
Rex Ryan will try to get a couple of his favorite players on the Jets because he was a valuable coach to the team because their strength was defense and the Jets need to improve on that and they need a new quarterback so keeping Brett Favre is not a really good idea at this time and that needs to change. Maybe Matt Cassell or trading for Donovan McNabb would be great for the Jets or just play Erik Ainge or use former starter Kellen Clemens but then they would finish last and would look terrible. Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed and Chris McAllister have played for the Ravens and still are under Rex Ryan's defense and his absense is a big hole to fill so to help the Jets win, Ryan needs to go out and grab some of his old players and win with a young but veteran team.
Posted Thursday January 22, 2009, About: Mets, Yankees top Garcia's list
Freddy Garcia has gotten old and he is not as good anymore. A couple of years ago, he was one of baseball's best pitchers and he would have been a valuable player on the market when he was with the Chicage White Sox. He doesn't seem as popular and his record shows. The Mets need pitchers because Pedro Martinez is leaning towards the Pirates and Oliver Perez is likely to leave. They lost out on Derek Lowe to the Atlanta Braves but they still have John Maine and Mike Pelfrey. They seem to be getting worse and the NLCS and playoff positions that they have been over the past couple of years are now going to fade away when they stand behind the Braves, Phillies and Marlins. The Yankees are continuing to improve by signing three of the top four free agents on this market. The Mets need it more but the Yankees will beat them to it if it means getting rid of Phil Hughes in the rotation.
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Report: Lions interview Garrett
Jason Garrett can coach offense very well and he did a good job in Texas with the Dallas Cowboys and he can improve this team. Not so far to get to the playoffs but he can give them a few wins and improve their offense to the point where they can get wins and Dan Orlovsky can mature and throw the ball better. Garrett made Tony Romo popular and the offense was great. He should leave the Cowboys because there is too much going on there and he needs to leave before something big happens and the team will go into a crisis and they will ruin the NFL. That is where the action is happening and Garrett would be better alone than with Wade Phillips.
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: How will Phillies replace Romero?
No one is on the market. Re-sign Tom Gordon and he will play the closer role just like he has beore with the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox. They can replace him but with one of their guys because there are no more good closers out there. Rodriguez and Fuenets have been taken and Lidge has been signed along with Wood. The Phillies are in a tough spot right now and they have to get someone before time runs out. Just get a bunch of relievers and have them share the role of the closer. Now Charlie Manuel has to think and use someone out of his bullpen like Gordon or trade for someone and give up Gordon.
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Cubs to restart Peavy talks
The Cubs have everything it takes. They have lots of hitting in that lineup and the pitching is great but when you go to the playoffs and you lose 3-0 with one of the best teams in baseball, you're missing something. Jake Peavy is a good pictcher and he can get things done very well and be a great ace next to Ryan Dempster. The Cubs are trying to rebuild their former rotation which included Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, and Greg Maddux. They need a closer and that should be their priority, not getting starters. They have lost Kerry Wood so a new guy has to be brought in sooner or later. Peavy will go to the Astros.
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Mavs-Raptors blockbuster in works?
Josh Howard used to be a great player and now not so much. These teams are both playoff teams and they both need to find the missing piece that will get them to the playoffs. Getting Andrea Bargnani and Anthony Parker from the Raptors is great for the Mavericks but they already have a point guard in Jason Kidd and who will take Josh Howard's position? Toronto is a good team but they can't do it with all the little guys they have so they have to go out and get a shooter like Josh Howard who can still play but the Mavericks are losing here because they have Nowitzki and Kidd and they cannot mess that up becasue they can make the playoffs easily with this lineup so they are messing things up and this will not work with two point guards in the lineup.
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Nuggets looking to deal
Carmelo Anthony is out and the Nuggets need someone else besides Chauncey Billups to carry the team into the postseason. With Anthony out 2 to 3 weeks, the Nuggets need to win games because the Spurs and the Lakers and the Blazers will be hard teams to catch up to so the Nuggets have to gain some ground before Carmelo comes back so they can make a strong playoff run when he returns to the team. The trade has to happen fast because the Nuggets will lose games without their star and it will be an important stretch with the toughness of the Western Conference teams and their ability to win ball games when they need to. This trade will happen because the Nuggets really need it for the time being until Carmelo Anthony returns.
Posted Wednesday January 07, 2009, About: Vikings in market for QB?
Matt Cassell had an impressive season this year and put up big numbers. He has to be a starting quarterback next season and he will be. He has to go to another team because Tom Brady will be starting on opening day for the Patriots next year. Tarvaris Jackson is not as efficient and he will be going to Seattle or New York. Cassell will end up in Minnesota playing for Brad Childress. This will be bad for the Patriots whose future with Tom Brady is long but they need someone to rely on if Brady goes elsewhere. I say keep Cassell but he needs to start so it doesn't work out both ways.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Patriots may franchise Cassel
Tom Brady might get traded but Matt Cassell is a great, young quarterback. What happened to the former Tom Brady, Drew Bledsoe? He ended up getting injured and never played for the Patriots for the rest of his career. Tom Brady took over and that Super Bowl ring started his career which made him millions. The Patriots have two trusted quarterbacks that they can rely on to carry the team and get into the playoffs. Tom Brady will make the start on opening day and he will be fine but a few years, Matt Cassell will be the man when Brady gets old and he will stay for a while playing in Foxboro as a Patriot.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Carmelo's hand worries Nuggets
Well, the Nuggets have lost Carmelo Anthony. They have their power tool now in Chauncey Billups who will have to carry the team in his first season playing with them. This is where we hear Allen Iverson in the background and his name comes to my attention because he is the backup and he takes over when Carmelo is around and now he got traded to the Pistons so now the Denver Nuggets are doomed. They don't have Carmelo and they don't have him for 3 weeks. They will lose games without him and they will fall behind teams in their division. They need to make a strong run when their star comes back or else they will not make the playoffs.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Wizards make fun of LeBron's 'crab dribble'
It wasn't a bad call. The referees know what they are doing and they are paid to get the calls right so stop complaining and take it like a man. He needs to toughen up and play ball, just like Stephon Marbury. He is the best player in the NBA and he gets calls his way all the time. All basketball players complain. LeBron should have had Mo Williams take the ball down and then pass it to the King for the tying three ball. The Wizards was the team they lost to? The Wizards are the worst team in the Eastern Conference and they are failing but they beat the Cavaliers at home. And they don't have to make fun of it. Everyone in the NBA travels. It happens. It's a mistake. The Wizards should stop joking before LeBron asks them to play one on one and destroys and then he will be laughing with the Bears Brian Urlacher.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Pettitte rejects Yankees' one-year offer
Well, there is a reason for the decrease in the money that he will be making if he takes the Yankees offer. He has an opportunity to play in the best pitching rotation in baseball and he is turning this down because he wants to play for Joe Torre and he is waiting to see who has the best team so he can go to them and get another title that he doesn't deserve. Why should Pettitte even deserve 10 million. He went 14-15 last year. 15 Losses! That's crazy. His ERA was over 5 and he cannot pitch anymore. It's time to finish and retire. Walk away from baseball because if you leave the Yankees, all fans will hate you and the Yankees will never retire his number. It's best if he retires and has his name and number in Memorial Park. He will always be a Yankee if he stays or retires but he will not be one unless he leaves for Joe Torre.
