In fact Bonds would probably have hit 800 Homeruns if not for so many IBBs.

Nice tribute Zach. We all would be blessed to know we touched the lives of others in the fashion Chuck did. R.I.P. Baun-ded

One thing I forgot to mention, don't know if it has any bearing,

Bartolo Colon, Melky Cabrera and Manny Ramirez....all from the DR..

Jose Bautista....where is he from? .........................................................

When he announced his retirement in MLB, there has to be some kind of negotiation before he can play again at the Major League level. I don't think Selig is ready to address that issue.

Good read.

Grienke is gone, face it. As fans we all gringe when we see our Ace traded away. We are looking at next year.

Agree, I feel he is a disease in the club house.
Posted Wednesday July 18, 2012, About: It is time to redesignate the designated
All the reasons except, "I don't want to see any automatic out when the pitcher comes up" has become obsolete. And at that, IF managers and coaches alike would have their pitchers put in more work, not all of them would be such an automatic out.
Posted Tuesday July 17, 2012, About: It is time to redesignate the designated
I think you missed my point. I am NOT saying kill the DH in the line up. Just quit using DH as a position designator.

I did not want to seem like a Thunder Homer............but , there it is.

My luck they will only get healthy for the stretch where they play the Braves.

good blog MF.

I for one stated many times to friends and family that roids were rampant in MLB. I also have stated many, many times here on this site and others as well, that MLB officials, owners, teams, players and umpires.......KNEW.

After the 94 strike MLB needed a "shot" in the arm to put asses back in seats and the Long Ball, High scoring games seemed to be just the ticket.

And like many, most casual fans think the game has to be high scoring to be a good game.

I like a 1-0 thriller.

The game yesterday between Arizona and my beloved Braves was actually a great game for fans, even tho the Braves lost.

Randall Delgado got two quick outs in the bottom of the second and then suddenly two guys were on. The bench had him intentionally walk the 8th place hitter to load the bases and bring up the pitcher.

Delgado's youth came thru and he walked the pitcher.

Now, after screwing around with the 8th hole and walking the pitcher on pitches not even close , what does he do? He compounds everything by throwing a fastball dead red over the middle to Parra. GS....Braves lose 6-4...That one series of events is what makes baseball so great.

Very Nice Outlaw. Growing up in the mountains of NC, I watched and listened to these guys all my life. A true legend and will be missed and never replaced.

Posted Thursday January 19, 2012, About: 2012; the sequel to the year of the quarterback
I hope you are right on that one. A lot of the beatings Big Ben takes is his own doing. It also contributes to his OL getting beat up and flagged so much.
Posted Wednesday January 11, 2012, About: Where is Goodell's enforcers when you need them
I had already gotten up and went to the crapper knowing that when I returned it would be Denver's ball. They definitely got screwed on that one. I am a Steelers fan but I am glad to see at least that stupid ass call did not cost the Broncos the game.
Posted Tuesday January 10, 2012, About: Where is Goodell's enforcers when you need them
And again, by rule, IF you lead with the helmet and it causes helmet to helmet, IT DOES NOT MATTER, it is a violation.
Posted Tuesday January 10, 2012, About: Where is Goodell's enforcers when you need them
The fact that since Cocthery came out of the play unharmed and raced back to the huddle, that hit will go unnoticed and unpunished. It could have just as easily been a devasting hit that put him on the sideline and only then, would it have mattered.

I HATE the double standards to which any organization enforces rules. IF you are going to fine Harrison, Lewis, Merriweather, Clark and others for brutal hits due to "helmet to helmet" then BY GOD fine everyone, everytime....
Posted Tuesday January 10, 2012, About: Where is Goodell's enforcers when you need them
And again guys, I agree it was a pisspoor officiated game. The backwards pass bs, the facemasks were bs BUT, what I am saying is the two hits by DJ Williams, one on Cotchery and the other on Johnson should have drawn flags OR at the least league fines. And yet, not a single frigging word one on either.
