I'll second that! Lifelong Orioles fan here so we gotta enjoy the wins we do get this year. That along with the young talent hopefully making strides forward. Adam Jones looked like he may turn into the 5 tool stud he was touted to be yesterday. We'll have to remember to thank Seattle for that one. Looks like the losing streak may come to an end in 2010 or 2011.

But really why doesn't he look like one? Seriously I came name guys who are much better in their sport that have had trade rumors around them for years and they play just fine. Trades are part of the business in the NFL. They aren't personal. It's not like they were gonna cut Cutler and not pay him anymore. He needs to get over himself. When he has a winning season for once in his entire life then maybe he can whine.

I'm not sure how dumping a 31 year old solid defensive second basemen who has hit .285+ for years and is good for 40 stolen bases is a bad idea. You can't have all 25 year olds on the roster.

The Orioles are closer to competeing than most people think. It's not going to happen this year. But depending on the development of a couple guys it could happen next year or the year after. Between Roberts, Jones, Markakis, Wieters, and Huff(I expect Andy to extend his contract during the season if he starts putting up numbers like last year) they are set for the top 5 positions in the batting order for a couple years, have great defense, especially up the middle and arguably the best defensive outfield in the majors. They also have 3 of the most promising pitchers in the minors in Matsuz, Arrieta, and Tillman. The bullpen is good as well. If they can sort out the starting pitching this team will compete in the east. But finding 3 SP's to go with Guthrie is still gonna be a big task.

Yes I fully believe they understand how bad it is. I also fully believe they think there is NOTHING they can do about it. That its going to crash and they are just trying to make the landing softer. Of course they can't say this because if they did the landing would be anything but soft.

Isolated incidents? Were it not for the government half a dozen other banks would be in the same situation. Do we need to get into Enron? How about Arthur Andersen? Want me to keep going? Only recently, Bush had at least 4 years of a Republican lead senate...I am a registered Republican but we screwed this up just as much as anyone else. We had 8 years to head off the mortgage problem with Bush in charge and didn't do a thing about it.

Hate to break it to you, but if you really are part of the 20% that holds 80% of the wealth, chances are doing absolutely nothing about the current state of the economy is gonna cost you a lot more of your wealth than paying some extra tax money to the government.

As an Orioles fan let me tell you that Olson is nothing to be excited about. His 7.79ERA and 2+ WHIP in 07 were painful and his 6.65 ERA and 1.74 WHIP last year weren't much better. He's not a strikeout pitcher but he also doesn't throw strikes. Bad combination. He's going to be 26 this year so its not like he's really young.

I really don't understand these couple moves for the Cubs, Felix Pie is still only 22 with tons of upside and Cedeno for Heilman? Really?

Roberts is going to be traded there have already been talks with the White Sox about Floyd and I am sure the Cubs talks will start up again if they haven't already. I don't think McPhail really cares if they get can get any big name FA starters at this point and there really isn't anyone out there to get excited about. They are just gonna keep adding veteran guys who will chew up innings for now and there is good reason for this strategy.

The Orioles have 4 of the the top 36 prospects in MLB according to MLB.com and 3 of those 4 are starting pitchers. They are just buying time.

This is likely the route I think they end up going. Zaun was in Baltimore before I believe. I can't see Pudge being back up to a rookie for 75% of the season, nor can I see Baltimore spending that much money on a backup right now.
