Posted Tuesday May 05, 2009, About: Will title keep LeBron in Cleveland?
I know it sounds waaay out there, but I don't see why Lebron won't consider resigning for LESS than the maximum. He's on record saying he wants to be the first billionaire athlete and I see him hiring analysts to investigate a scenario in which he leaves a few million on the table to provide for a stronger supporting cast (i.e., Wade, Bosh) IF that stronger cast would increase his chances of establishing dynasty and IF that dynasty would yield a higher return in the long run. I suspect it would and I'm surprised someone like Tim Duncan hasn't considered the long-term payoff being part of a super-dynasty might yield.

And for the record, I'm not super-religious or anything. I just hate to see politics/religion in a sports forum. You guys might as well be one of those nuts that comes in and talks about "millions dying in Iraq" in the middle of a football conversation; doesn't make much sense does it?

Jesus guys, this is a freakin sports forum. If ya want to sit around and bash religion, you might want to look for a different forum.

I meant a Southern Cal guy. He was just giving another guy in the booth a hard time. And seriously, as per the "thug" thing, yes people are lazy and tend to lump people into categories based upon looks. If a person is going to take offense to it, don't dress that way. I personally have my ears and nose pierced and usually wear sideburns and a goatee, and I recognize that as such, people may categorize me as a "goth" or "emo" kid--I am neither one of the above, but I acknowledge that when presenting myself as I do, people (generally unintelligent people that I wouldn't want much association with anyway) will have preconceptions. So what?!?!
Posted Tuesday November 27, 2007, About: NFL analyst kids about 'USC thug'
What a ridiculous debate this is. After watching Beuerlein do the Kentucky vs. Tenn NCAAF game last weekend, I became a huge fan. He is kinda goofy, but not in an annoying Tony Kornheiser way. Basically, he was giving a Southern Cal a hard time about USC. How are ya gonna criticize a former Notre Dame player for cracking on USC? And I am so so sick of this PC world. Just how many words can we give racial overtones to? I read an article where a boyscout got suspended from school for admitting he could tie a "noose." So, let me get this straight: I cannot say "thug" or "noose." Are there any other words I should know about, so as to not accidentally offend people?

And now, we know why he is smiling from ear to ear for every play of every game. I suspect he probably smiles in his sleep. Oddly enough, this is the first time I have been truly jealous of a professional athlete...

Jason70, get over your massive man crush ASAP, dude. It cannot be healthy! You have to deal with the facts on hand. He strayed, gambled, and generally made her look like like the lesser partner throughout their marriage. I don't know how much MJ is worth, so I'm not going to say that she deserved more, but I have little doubt she deserves every penny she is getting. She did invest 17 years of her life into making it work. Is that worth about a million a year? Given the stuff he evidently put her through, I don't see why not.

Kewe7679,
What a great insight, that she was after money and it turned into love. Did she confide this to you, or are you just alot more intuitive than the average Joe?

Why laugh at Haslem being a captain? He's undersized for his position and has had to fight and scrap for everything he has. You don't necessarily make your best players captains, but the ones you trust to lead and I am sure that at the very least, Haslem leads by example each and every practice. What's to laugh at?

Huh? I'm trying to follow, really I am. "For what it's worth and none of you are..." I get confused there. You're saying no one is worth something? And is it not quite similar to name calling, saying "small" the way you do. For example, if I say "You are a retard" versus "You're a retarded person," it's still name calling either way, no? Or am I wrong and there is an acceptable name calling protocol that I'm not aware of?

I, for one, am completely blindsided by this. I really thought Smush would turn the corner, playing for his fourth or fifth team! Is there any truth to the rumor that he continues finding work because coaches just like screaming, "Dammit Smush!"

By his, I meant AP. Clearly, Childress did not rush for 300 yards. ;)
Posted Monday November 05, 2007, About: Peterson wants to be 'best player ever'
Why all the Childress hating? He did call those running plays, right? You know, the ones that led to his 300 yards rushing? You think Tony Dungy could win with Tavaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger? Get some perspective, guys.

Posted Friday November 02, 2007, About: Should Eagles coach stay or go?
Anyone that tries to argue that Reid is not a good coach does not keep up with football. As someone pointed out, he has the 16th best career winning percentage in history and the 5th highest behind active coaches. He is in the middle of a Hal of Fame career. I'm not an Eagle fan, but I'm also not an idiot--Reid can coach. I'm not going to pass judgment on his family situation, or at least, I'm not going to publicly state my opinion because I don't think it's any of my business. But please, please stop showing your ignorance by claiming that he is a bum that cannot coach. If you must pick on the man, point out that he has an uncanny resemblance to a walrus, but don't knock his coaching acumen.
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: Panthers' Smith chastises rookie
I'm way too lazy to track down Keyshawn's stats at the moment, but I believe he caught for 800 yards or so on a run first team last season. He never had break away speed, but he was a first down machine that rarely dropped the ball. Worth the lofty draft pick, probably not. But a great receiver in his own right, if not as exciting as a Randy Moss type. Much as I love watching Vrabel catch TD's, lets not get carried away, makmall.

Cracking me up. He is a little bit old, but yeah, he's really let himself go. LOL
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: Broncos running back shuffle
You guys see that crazy stretch running play in the 4th quarter Monday when Young juked half the Packer D to the ground? Best running play I've seen this season. Can't draw too many conclusions from one play, but he looked very Priest Holmes-ish to my eyes.

Well crap, I did say I would admit I was a big dummy if I didn't get Mr. Whistler's sarcasm. So...yes, I am a big idiot. But I'm not entirely to blame. I read so much crazy stuff on here, that it becomes difficult to tell the difference in sarcasm and insanity, ya know? And I'm a Pats fan as well, just don't have it as my avatar to save myself from constant persecution, so no criticism there. I'm a Pats fan living in Indy--sacrilege, huh? Gonna be fun watching the game at the bar this weekend...
Posted Thursday November 01, 2007, About: Panthers' Smith chastises rookie
Jerzy Man and BrSee,
Couldn't disagree with you guys more. Yes, the Panthers have several problems, but the fact is Jarrett has only dressed for one of seven games. I understand not getting on the field as a rookie, but he's a second round draft pick and he's not even dressing. That is a bad sign. And BrSee, football is a rough game. Temper's flair. The fact that Smith punched a teammate does not mean he is not a consummate team player. Vince Young punched a teammate and he's still being hailed as the next coming of General Patton. If he was punching guys out weekly, then that would be a problem. You didn't play football growing up did you? It shows in comments like that.

Rhonnie, good chance Smith has taken Jarrett to task privately and hasn't gotten through to him. I'm sure this was a calculated move to embarrass the rook into putting the time in.

pw, I like your take on it sir. I know Jarrett is no Randy Moss but he certainly has enough skills that the Panthers decided to use a 2nd round pick on him. The fact he's not even getting to dress for games shows that he is probably coming up short somewhere and if Steve Smith was giving me advice, I would take it, no questions asked.
