+1 on Harrison. Does anybody hear anything on whether he has anything left in the tank? He'd draw coverage on reputation alone and could probably teach the young guys a trick or two. I'm still disappointed they didn't make a move earlier for Boldin. That guy is a football player, not like a lot of those ballerinas in cleats!

Hey, Legacy84: two things smell like fish!
Posted Friday May 01, 2009, About: Did Favre hire personal trainer?
It's a shame that one of the greats can't just walk away with grace. He's like a puchdrunk ex-champ still thinkin' he can get one more shot at the title. The guy's mind hasn't been right for the last 3 or 4 years. All the waffling and the collapse last year. His elevator no longer goes to the top floor!
Posted Thursday April 16, 2009, About: Lions still weighing No. 1 pick
Why doesn't anyone suggest the obvious -- TRADE DOWN!! Patriots have 4 of the first 58 picks. Broncos have 3 of the first 48. They must be in love with someone enough to take the number 1. The Lions would be better off with three picks in the first round or four in the first and top of second. The number 1 just isn't worth it this year. The quarterbacks are underwhelming, there are four OT's rated similarly. TRADE DOWN!!

Any one of Scott, Suggs or Lewis would be an upgrade and Ryan and Mike Pettine (new D coordinator and was their position coach at Balt.) will know who has what left in the tank. As to DB's, Mangini gave up too early on Dwight Lowery last year. The kid started off playing well and aggressively. I mean, come on, Ty Law? His lack of coverage ability caused the Jets to play more zone, which nullified many of the blitz packages that were effective in the early part of the season. Picking at #17 there should be OL and WR talent available. They desperately need someone who can stretch the field at WR, an edge rusher and someone who can spell Kerry Jenkins 'cause that wide body can't go 70% of the snaps. Let the young guns fight it out for QB and build on the solid running attack.
Posted Friday January 23, 2009, About: Jets owner wants Favre back
The Ravens' formula for success has been to have an attacking defense that turns the ball over and a controlled offense that does not. Presumably Ryan will instill the same philosophy. Kerry Rhodes, David Harris and Calvin Pace should be pushed to be impact players. The defensive end and LB positions could be improved. This past year showed that the Jets can mount a serious running game behind a talented offensive line. Jones carries the rock well behing blocking and Washington can put up Marshall Faulk-Brian Westbrook type numbers if they get him the ball. They lack breakaway speed or a big, dependable target at WR. They should nudge Favre into retirement, focus on picking up a downfield threat at WR (either thru draft or free agency) and let Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge battle for the QB job in training camp. Over the next 2 years if a difference-maker QB comes along, make a move. As a sidenote, Pennington was a solid, sometimes brilliant player and a leader that others wanted to play for. He has, however, been brittle his whole career and injuries and the Jets' stupid handling (like letting him play 7 games with a torn rotator cuff) constantly kept him from fulfilling expectations. Favre is the guy at the craps table to may hit big but could also be a bug heading for a windshield. The unpredictability of his performance and the ravages of time make him unsuitable for today's game. Go home, be a first ballot HOF entrant and know you did your best.

Maybe folks should focus more on the ways in which Buress' attitude manifests itself on the field. Serious alligator arms led to Manning's first interception last week. Burress is a great physical athlete, but he consistently misreads defenses, is undisciplined in his route running and fails to finish plays.
