Calling Lugo even a decent glove is, sadly, a gross overstatement. And I'm not so sure that bouncing back from an "off" 18 months is as easy as you seem to make it sound. And who cares if he steals 20 bags the 20 times pitchers are dumb enough walk him? Every other time he will strike out or ground out to the pitcher. But at least he looks mean and cool while he's waiting to whiff at strike three in the dirt.

i forgot lowell only signed a two year deal...yeah i guess then we could keep ellsbury. platooning would allow some pressure to be taken off of him too and allow him to develop more at the plate.

for getting teixeira how bout this: keep youk at first. i dont know how good mark is but youks as solid as can be as evidenced by his record. keep lowell at third. move bay from left to center. put teixeira in left and platoon crisp. trade ellsbury now and when crisps contract is up let him go and bring up a kid from the farm to be the fourth outfielder. then find a third or first basemen when lowell is done. Bay seems to have pretty good legs under him and we sure as hell need more power from our centerfielders.

how bout this solution for getting tex: keep lowell at third and youk at first. however good tex is at first lets not forget youks errorless streak. you move bay from left to center and put mark in left. then you trade crisp and platoon ellsbury. when mikey's contract is up you move youk to third and mark to first. then find a center fielder or keep mark in left and find a first or third baseman. or maybe trade ellsbury now and keep crisp for the rest of his contract and then bring up someone from the farm.
