As the days go by I can re-think my thoughts. You were right about Lowe and Fuentes, it looks like both guys are the top choice for the Mets closer role and one of two open starting pitching roles. And if the Mets sign both, Manny will still not be a Met. Also this doesn't guarantee that Perez will be a Met too, but who knows if they even want to really sign Oliver anymore. I think Raul Ibanez will be signed to help out Tatis and Murphy in left, but don't forget Holliday I still feel he might end up in Queens somehow by the end of the year. We shall see!

I think that Lowe is the back, back up plan. If CC Sabathia and Jake Peavy go else where i can definitely see Lowe in a Met uniform. Same thing for Fuentes, if the Mets don't get K-Rod then Fuentes is your guy. But look depending on who the Mets get for starting pitching and for the closer role effects who they get for the other position holes they need to fill. If we get Lowe and or Fuentes you will probably see Manny in a Met uniform, re-singed Delgado and Perez and a definite trade of Castillio and a signing of Orlando Hudson. If they sign K-Rod and Sabathia or Peavy then the other players will lower in standards. More of a Raul Ibanez in left and Randy Wolf for the rotation. It all depends on who they are gunning for first. Who's the big chip they want to surround this offseason re building year with. (Also the Rockies want to trade Matt Holliday, if the Mets can get him to sign on for some years, we might see the Rockie slugger in a Mets uniform in '09)
Posted Sunday October 26, 2008, About: Rays in hunt for K-Rod?
The Tigers, Brewers, Cubs, Rays?!?, Angels, Dodgers and Mets in the chase for K-Rod. Well i look at all these teams and only three make sense to me and one just makes me laugh out loud. The Angels make sense because well he grew up in the franchise and i highly doubt they wouldn't pay the big bucks to keep him around. It would be like Papelbon being a free agent and the Red Sox taking a pass, just not believable they wouldn't be in the top three for the running. Team number two, the Tigers, apparently this team took the Yankees philosophy and got stacked with an All-Star caliber team. And like the Yankees that doesn't work out so well. But with this mind set they will push hard to get this kid. Also look for them to try and move Verlander to possibly get Peavy. And last the Mets must be in pursuit of K-Rod. Their bullpen is the worst in baseball no matter what the statistics say, they are down their on the list and also in big situations its a joke. They need to get this kid, for now and the future. With Billy Wagner done in New York apparently they need a stable closer. Look for the Mets to be in the top three for K-Rod and if they loose they will get Brian Fuentes. Those three teams will be the final three contenders for the save king.
