Posted Monday November 09, 2009, About: Navy loss a deal-breaker for Weis?
Michaelo...you are right that ND outhustled Notre Dame; you are wrong about your team being in a bowl game and ND will not. They already have 6 wins. Now about the game. I totally agree with my fellow domers that NO adjustments were made at halftime and btw it isnt like Navy did anything you were not prepared for. Congrats to the Naval Academy. Unfortunately the college football world still looks at you as a team everyone should beat. Regardless of that stigma I admire you guys for what you do for our country. Because of you we can complain about Charlie Weis and Notre Dame. I too am sick and tired of the excuses but I also think more grief should be pointed toward the Defense....What happened to the highly touted DC Jon Tenuta. His D schemes were not even in the same time zone. That is unacceptable. What Father Jenkins decides to do I have no clue. What I do know though is our ND club does have insiders in the Athletic Dept so if we find out it is the end of the CW era will post. Also, I live in Collierville, just outside Memphis, and the UofM football coach was fired today. Sad but unfortunately necessary. Too much money thrown at the basketball program and not enough of the football program. Go Irish!

piratey - I was at the game yesterday. Good posts. You nailed what happened. Up close and personal it is tough sometimes to see everything that is going on but a lot of us who went to the game saw the replay of the game as well. A number of the posts are clearly biased and just plain stupid. It is clear you are a ND fan too but you were objective and rational. I think BC is an important game for several reasons but Pitt I think will tell you a lot about this team. There were a lot of ND fans from Pennsylvania staying at the same place we were. They are taking a bus trip to the game. Pitt is ranked and has a good team. Charlie Weis is not going to lose his job over this game although we are all pretty much in agreement short yardage playcalling has to get better. I think the problem with the D is twofold - Tenuta and not enough talented D players especially ones with speed. It was a tough loss but worth the price of admission. 50 of us travelled from Tennessee to South Bend for the game. Several of us are going to the Wash State game in San Antonio. JImmy Clausen had a slow start but I got better as the game went on. I do think Barkley is a good player especially being just a freshman. So, tune out the typical posters posting the same old garbage...not worth a response. Go Irish!
Posted Sunday October 11, 2009, About: USC QB order changing?
Excellent comments gariboy. I totally agree. I am a ND fan too and have heard all of the Charlie Weis fat jokes too and the obvious fact(unless you have been under a rock) that the Irish have been less than stellar on the field(gross understatement). Having said that you cant be a ND fan and wear rose colored glasses; i.e., the games this season. ND has dodged one bullet after another(save one) which hasnt done a lot for my blood pressure. I do try however to find positives as well without being Pollyanna...the D in the Washington game for instance. I dont think there are many times(if any) that the porous D of ND has had a goal stand...for 7 downs...Maybe to other teams that is no big deal but to Notre Dame it is no matter whom they were playing. The pass coverage still needs work but the O looks pretty impressive. Golden Tate has stepped up with the loss of Michael Floyd. CW needs to get creative in the upcoming game against USC. Whether PC plays Barkley or Mustain is really irrelevant. Either qb could make it a long day for the Irish D.

As for USC fans...I live in Tennessee and heard ad nauseum about Mitch Mustain, Houston Nutt and Mitch's mommy. Enough already. I have to admit I dont know why he transferred to USC with all of the talent the Trojans have. He also played a short stint at Tulsa. I think one thing is telling though I understand now why PC pushed so hard to get Sanchez to stay. Hopefully, my Irish will at least be competitive. JC is having a good year so far. We will making the trip to South Bend for the game with 48 other ND fans....
Posted Monday February 23, 2009, About: Notre Dame, 'Bama offer Montana's son
Of course he has not decided where he is going. Our resident Ohio State fan is just mouthing off or wishful thinking...pick one. As for whether Joe Montana likes Charlie Weis or not I have no clue and could care less. I do think he should probably go somewhere else other than Notre Dame because the pressure of being as good as your dad, has to be enormous. Peyton Manning chose UT for that reason. Eli did pretty well at Ole Miss but I am sure comparisons were always been made between father and son. Sometimes that can be a good thing. Notre Dame already has an excellent quarterback from California..backup to JC...for now. I personally hope CW makes JC compete for the job in spring practice. He wont but I wish he would. I am a member of a ND Board and a longtime Irish fan and while not president of the Charlie Weis fan club, I hope he does succeed at Notre Dame because a constant changing of the guard is not good for the program. Having said that CW is too stoic. Lou was fiery and motivational. CW knows this is his last chance will be the upcoming season. And by the Bucs fan....I wouldnt be spouting off about the SEC if I were you...0-2 and losing to Texas...I dont like Nick Saban but no one can argue with his success at Alabama.
Posted Saturday November 15, 2008, About: Weis alienates Irish supporters, recruits
Come on guys grow up. If you want to post something about ND at least try and make it...let me think...intelligent. All of these silly remarks about his size are so middle school. I am a long time ND fan and no one is more disgusted with the losses to Pitt and BC than I am. CW is paid a lot of money and ND has playmakers so there is no excuse. It wouldnt come down to this if they had taken care of business. As I said in an earlier post I am concerned that the losses are due to coaching and that is unacceptable.
Posted Saturday November 15, 2008, About: Theismann weighs in on Weis
No question Charlie Weis has some 'splaining to do. I was extremely disgusted, as a ND fan, that they lost to Pitt and BC. He is paid a lot of money and they have playmakers. Jimmy had a horrific game against BC but you still gave them 14 of their 17 pts. I am concerned it is about coaching. I could handle fumbles, pics, etc., those things unfortunately happen but being outcoached is unacceptable. I have met and like Charlie Weis but that wont cut it. We know as ND fans that all of this alleged interest in what is happening with the Irish is the anti-ND sentiment and we are take that with a grain of salt...which is all it is worth. ND should beat Navy and for Charlie's sake I hope they do. Go Irish!
