OH and saying that the caps have nobody behind Ovechkin to pick up the slack would be to say Malkin has nobody to pick up the slack behind him. I'll take Semin: 34 goals and 79 points in 62 games last year, along with Backstrom: 88 points and Green: 73 points in 68 games. Keep thinking you guys are soooo much better than the caps. It will just be that much sweeter to see you lose

Pens fans. Your team almost got taken away from you because of how awful your team was. Why don't you stop being a bunch of **** and give the Caps some respect. Yeah you beat us in game 7. At least we took you to 7 games. Don't try and pretend like the Pens dominated us. It was the first time Ovie had seen Sidney in the playoffs. It WILL happen again. And all the past wins won't help you. We have a lot of pride here in MD. Quit talking trash because you're upset at how much Crosby get's laughed at. And why won't any of you admit that your best player is Malkin....NOT Crosby.

Crosby is not as good as Ovechkin. The object of hockey is to score goals. Ovechkin has more goals AND more points than Crosby over their careers. And the fact that Crosby get's hurt is NOT an excuse. If it wasn't for Malkin taking over the series, Crosby's injury in the finals would have been a MONUMENTAL letdown. The only difference is you guys got more top 2 draft picks. Meaning, got Crosby and Fleaury at #1 overall. You also got your best player, Malkin, at #2 behind Ovechkin. The only reason why you guys are better is because of that. We have better scouting. We drafted Backstrom at 4th (you morons drafted Jordan Staal), Semin at 13th and Green at 29th. Enjoy the cup for now Pens fans. It won't last.

Ugh, you should all get a room. Don't you losers have anything else to do all day other than banter on T&R??? And for the record.....Cleary's right, and the Pens defense will suck this season without Scuderi and Gill. Ovechkin will run rampant against the Pens this year. Go Caps.

HAHAHAHA. Haynesworth was just getting Brady back for what Wilfork did to Campbell earlier in the game with a late cheap shot. Haynesworth DROPPED HIS ****! Brady's a great player but so is Haynesworth. He even helped Tom up after. Totally warranted and NOT cheap. Everyone saw it and you're the only jackass complaining about it. THIS IS THE NFL.

I agree. The rivalries are great again. I love watching Mike Richards play against Ovechkin the most though. They are both hard hitting talented players. I'd like to see Malkin start hitting more. He's a big guy but doesn't have the speed that Ovie has I guess. I'm a little jealous that the Pens and Flyers will most likely get each other first round. I just hope the Caps meet either of the two in the conference finals....that would be a series to watch!

That's because you're a sensible Bruins fan who knows the importance of a physical presence...for example, Lucic. Ovechkin brings that plus the top goal scoring for the past 4 years. Could you imagine Lucic a 50 goal scorer....scary!

hahaha I love how people assume that (since the Caps don't have a great history like the Pens and Flyers) Caps fans who love Ovechkin are now just bandwagon fans. I've been watching the Caps since I was a child. I grew up loving Langway, Gartner and Bondra. I agree that there are plenty of new fans in the DC area but that's nothing to be ashamed about. Ovechkin puts people in seats just the same as Crosby does. Don't hate because we haven't had much to cheer for before Ovie got here.

That's wonderful! He should be the face of the Penguins then....not the whole league. Hopefully, the league will understand what gets new fans to watch the NHL. It's 1:Goals 2:Hits 3:fighting Ovechkin brings 2 of the 3....Crosby and Malkin bring a little bit of the first.

I agree with all of this....Except of course that Malkin's MVP. He'll be the runner up to Ovechkin. Leading the league by 10 in points is nowhere near as difficult as leading the league in goals by 10. And Ovechkin's team has done way better than the Pens this year. Malkin is great but they weren't even going to make the playoffs until Kunitz and Guerin came along.....

I don't think Crosby and Malkin could put up that many shots. They're not as hungry to score as Ovechkin. Ovie might not be top ten assists but Malkin and Crosby aren't in the top ten when it comes to goals. And the fact is it's easier to get assists. you have two players getting assists on most goals. Secondary assists count for plenty of Crosby and Malkin's assist totals. Not taking anything away from them, just saying it's harder to score goals than to pile up assist totals.

Hahahaha ok. So by your expert analysis Crosby and Malkin would have 50 goals too if they took more shots???? uhhh, ok. Then why don't they? Ovechkin gets that many shots because he creates the space and lanes to shoot. So who holds the all time record for most shots in a season???? Phil Esposito. Ever heard of him? Wingers are suppose to shoot. Oh and his line mates: Backstrom: 19 goals and Semin: 29 Goals. So I think the puck gets spread around plenty.

I'm not too worried about Theo. He's never lost a first round in the playoffs. That being said, the Caps put up enough goals per game to give him a fine cushion. As long as Ovechkin and the game keep putting up the numbers like they have all season...I'm not too worried.

If you don't want to see Ovechkin celebrate DON'T LET HIM SCORE! This man is by far the most exciting player in the NHL. He makes the Capitals THE most exciting team in hockey. 50 goals before anyone else has 42. Malkin and Crosby are incredibly talented and great athletes but are nowhere near the excitement level of Ovechkin. He runs and guns and loves the contact unlike Crosby who shies away from it and lets it frustrate him. Ovechkin will take on anyone in the corners. I remember the game against the Canadians last year where he scored 2 goals and broke his noes....he then scored 2 more including the game winner. This man is nothing but entertaining and if you girls have problems with him celebrating then cry about it. Oh and the Flyers are the only other team in the East who can run with the Caps. Pens will be out first round. Hopefully from a Flyer beat down.
