What? So what is the definition of "winning?"
Posted Wednesday December 03, 2008, About: Sources: Utah coach high on Huskies' list
UW has been down for a few years, but I would not call it a demotion from Utah. Those of us with memories that reach back for more than a few years see a huge program that long had national prominance. They have won the national chamionship before and are more likely to again before Utah does. And I'm not a hater. I love Utah, BYU, TCU, Air Force and Mtn West. But until we toss the BSC these teams aren't going any farther than Utah has already gone.

That being said, I don't think Whittingham will go to UW for plenty of reasons people already stated.

"pop tarts" Good one.

I just hope that the day is soon coming when we won't have to see pictures of the "BIG ONE" every fricken day.
Posted Sunday November 16, 2008, About: June Jones suspends 17 SMU players
June Jones is the man!

When Akey came to Idaho he dismissed 18 players for Shenanigans. It put them back from bad to pathetic, but I think it will eventually pay off. Now for Jones and SMU it will payoff much quicker because of the quality of players in Texas.

Stick with Jones and the herd will come thundering back.
Posted Tuesday November 11, 2008, About: Obama in the house for Howard-Oregon State?
It will be a boring crowd. Half of them will be wearing dark suits and sunglasses. And they'll be watching anyone who moves.
Posted Tuesday November 11, 2008, About: Neuheisel: Washington would be better with me
When UW plays WSU I predict a tie. They will have to give up after about 20 OTs because neither team will be able to score.

Oh, I get your point. My bad.
Posted Sunday November 09, 2008, About: Vols still looking for quarterback
Wyoming???

I get that UT has a QB problem...but Wyoming? They shouldn't have scored at all against an SEC defense.
Posted Sunday November 09, 2008, About: Clark apologizes to Penn State Nation
Well, maybe Lamgol. But I think that is some rather wishful thinking.

Tough break for Clark. He has had some ups and downs, but hey, he got them this far. Give him due credit.
Posted Friday November 07, 2008, About: Oregon losing recruits to OSU
Whoa! Califdude, relax and you will live longer. If you want to get in a **** match of insults the go to FOX Sports and blog there. I used to but left because most people were jerks. People seem much more calm and intelligent here. Warning ya though, most of the fans there are SEC fans.

As for Washington football, I love the Cougs and the Dogs, but the have 1 win between the 2 of them and that was over Portland State.

Hey zY, do you think anywhere else in the country has worse football this year than here on the Palouse? (WSU & Idaho)
Posted Sunday November 02, 2008, About: Penn State's next coach...?
"but Big Ten gets screwed every time somehow. Fact of life!! LOL."

Hey Trix, I'm not sure how the Big 10 gets screwed every time when Ohio State got into the last 2 NC games. And even with a November loss...sounds like the got the benefit of the doubt.

I also think that Jo Pa has hung around a little too long, but I admire him anyway. And although I don't think they are the best team, I hope that somehow they pull it off and win it all. Now that would be a great story.

Posted Sunday November 02, 2008, About: BYU snubbing Jim McMahon?
And one more thing about BYU and Jim...

He was superlative, there is no doubt about that. But it wasn't like he made BYU or anything. BYU had great QBs and winning teams before and after Jim. There were capable backups at QB. BYU gave Jim the opportunity to become a household name and to make millions in the NFL. They also gave him an opportunity to earn a degree, which he doesn't care about. BYU doesn't owe him anything.
Posted Sunday November 02, 2008, About: BYU snubbing Jim McMahon?
Again, STUDENT ATHLETE at BYU means that you graduate. It is that way for all athletes who have played there. Jim didn't fulfill the requirments. BYU can look confidently in the mirror for not making exceptions to their standard. The question should be, how could they look in the mirror knowing that they compromised their standards?

Making money for the program has never been a factor in qualifying for the Hall of Fame at BYU, and it shouldn't be anywhere. Not everything in college football should be about $$.
Posted Sunday November 02, 2008, About: Why Leach may leave Texas Tech
I guess I can see the reasoning that TT is not national title material....but look, they just beat Texas. It isn't a big stretch to think that they might win out and be in the BSC title game. If they beat Texas, is it such a stretch to think that they could beat PSU, UA, UF, USC? I don't think they'll win it all either, but it certainly doesn't look so far-fetched after winning tonight.

Oh, I know it is really called the BCS, but I think BS-C is a more accurate description of how we get a champion.
Posted Saturday November 01, 2008, About: Pinkel may top Huskies' list
I don't know if Pinkel will go to UW or not, or if they'll even ask him.

That being said...anyone who thinks UW isn't a great opportunity or that they don't have tons of tradition and potential just hasn't been familiar with college football for very long. UW has had some crappy seasons and fallen to an all time low recently, but it has an incredible upside. The program has been elite and even won it all before and with the right coach will do so again.

Thad847 is exactly right. Does the term Student Athlete still mean anything? Of course, not much in a lot of places. But at BYU it does and thus one must graduate to be in the Hall of Fame. To qualify one must not only be a great athlete, but a successful student. Refusing to finish disqualifies Jim from being a successful student. I see nothing wrong with that requirment and in fact, am glad to see it. Good for BYU.

Jim was phenominal. He has unsurpassed recognition in UT and at BYU. But he doesn't qualify. And he doesn't care. It has nothing to do with religion or moral superiority. It has everything to do with setting high standards and sticking to them. Why do some have a problem with that? Again, good for BYU.
