That being said, I don't think Whittingham will go to UW for plenty of reasons people already stated.
I just hope that the day is soon coming when we won't have to see pictures of the "BIG ONE" every fricken day.
When Akey came to Idaho he dismissed 18 players for Shenanigans. It put them back from bad to pathetic, but I think it will eventually pay off. Now for Jones and SMU it will payoff much quicker because of the quality of players in Texas.
Stick with Jones and the herd will come thundering back.
I get that UT has a QB problem...but Wyoming? They shouldn't have scored at all against an SEC defense.
Tough break for Clark. He has had some ups and downs, but hey, he got them this far. Give him due credit.
As for Washington football, I love the Cougs and the Dogs, but the have 1 win between the 2 of them and that was over Portland State.
Hey zY, do you think anywhere else in the country has worse football this year than here on the Palouse? (WSU & Idaho)
Hey Trix, I'm not sure how the Big 10 gets screwed every time when Ohio State got into the last 2 NC games. And even with a November loss...sounds like the got the benefit of the doubt.
I also think that Jo Pa has hung around a little too long, but I admire him anyway. And although I don't think they are the best team, I hope that somehow they pull it off and win it all. Now that would be a great story.
He was superlative, there is no doubt about that. But it wasn't like he made BYU or anything. BYU had great QBs and winning teams before and after Jim. There were capable backups at QB. BYU gave Jim the opportunity to become a household name and to make millions in the NFL. They also gave him an opportunity to earn a degree, which he doesn't care about. BYU doesn't owe him anything.
Making money for the program has never been a factor in qualifying for the Hall of Fame at BYU, and it shouldn't be anywhere. Not everything in college football should be about $$.
Oh, I know it is really called the BCS, but I think BS-C is a more accurate description of how we get a champion.
That being said...anyone who thinks UW isn't a great opportunity or that they don't have tons of tradition and potential just hasn't been familiar with college football for very long. UW has had some crappy seasons and fallen to an all time low recently, but it has an incredible upside. The program has been elite and even won it all before and with the right coach will do so again.
Jim was phenominal. He has unsurpassed recognition in UT and at BYU. But he doesn't qualify. And he doesn't care. It has nothing to do with religion or moral superiority. It has everything to do with setting high standards and sticking to them. Why do some have a problem with that? Again, good for BYU.
