Yea they say 6-9 weeks, so that's way better news than 4 months. He should be back by early May, so missing the first month or so isn't time for panic. Hopefully the "hybrid" procedure will remedy the discomfort till the end of the season and he can put up decent numbers, they say in the article that he needs further surgery after the season.

And in the Red Sox have question marks: Lowell coming off hip surgery, Ortiz aka the Big Sloppy...wrist/declining stats, Varitek's dismal '08 campaign, Ellisbury, Drew is certain for a trip to the DL, Lowrie/Lugo SS combo that is great, Beckett coming off injury, Wakefield is old....the only certain for a good year is Youk, and the little arrogant guy as second.

I've read about this a few years ago in an article in a SI magazine. If I recall it had the top 10 most hated players in any sport, and Phil was one of them. No real surprise here, I've disliked Phil since I started playing golf, he just doesn't seem like a genuine guy. On the other hand, I've never met him, but if everyone on tour says he's a d*ck, then there has to be some truth to it.

I hope the Sox don't get him, that will solidify their lineup. I agree the Yanks need him more (come on Cash...what's another $180-195M??) But to say the Sox have a set lineup is not true, Ellsbury struggled, Drew carried them for a stretch but susceptible to injury, Big Sloppy is on the decline, Lowell is coming off hip surgery, Varitek (if he re-signs) is horrendous, and Lowrie is heading to his second season. Only "locks" are Pedroia, Youk, and Bay.
