Perhaps this is a natural evolution into 16, 18, or 20-team conferences. The best chance the smaller FBS schools have to make the 4-team playoff or a top bowl game is to win a large conference.
And what the hell happened to USC? What a difference a year makes. Last year around this time, Matt Barkley was elating fans with his announcement that he would stick around. USC fans bought tickets to Miami. Now they all limp home with tails between their legs and Barkley's draft stock fell steeply.
Clemson's win was a defining moment for the CFB season. I was expecting them to do as well as Florida St did against Florida. Instead, Clumpy showed us that the SEC Elite aren't so elite.
My grandfather would never tell of his service, either. Not a word. He was drafted into the Army. WWII. Don't think he ever made it past the rank of Pvt. My grandmother used to tell us he served in the Philippines and drove a truck. He never confirmed nor denied.
Hey, Armpit, with your consecutive messages of Halloween and Christmas, I was reminded of the ol' Comp Sci joke, why do computer scientists frequently confuse Christmas and Halloween?

I did find this interesting. But they're not influenced by the polls, right?
That said, I do like the hypothetical matchups better than this years actuals. I want to see the SEC play the best of the non-SEC so we can test the whole "bias" theory.
The rule I would first like reverted is the marking of the ball where it is, like putting the ball over the goal line. Football is a battle between men; if I stick the ball over your shoulder, I haven't beaten you. The ball should be marked where the knee falls or where the hip is when the player is down.
This article represents my view on the firing of Jon Embree very well. I'm not so in tune with the issues facing black head coaches, so I can't really speak to that, but Embree was given a program in dire straits and they pulled the rug out from under him WAY early.
Colonel, I'm a BIG proponent of massage. I know there are many migraine sufferers whose symptoms are more medical, but it seems to me that doctors neglect that some (as mine were, and mine sent me to the hospital, too) are caused by neck and shoulder tension. Quick test: if you can push (hard) on the muscles at the back and sides of your neck, near the base of your skull and it sends shards of pain into your head, then that is your source. If so, you will need 4 - 6 weeks of massage therapy just to set you right. I now massage my own neck (tennis balls work wonders) to keep the headaches away.
I gotta recant, UTF. K State is TIED with OU for the Big XII title. They didn't get it done on the field. They get the BCS invite only by (guess who)...H2H.
I thought the same thing, till I analyzed what happened on the last play. They had planned nicely for two plays, (although, spiking on 1st down might have gotten them 3). The pass was going for the edge and would have easily gotten the receiver outta bounds, but it was tipped at the line (great effort, btw), the receiver adjusted (shoulda just let it fall incomplete), and slipped as he caught it, preventing him from getting anywhere near outta bounds. Just a tough break.
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
