I'd never heard of Lubbock before I looked into going to school here. It's not "West Texas" like El Paso or Midland. It's flat, it's dusty, but when you get into Lubbock it's beautiful. The people are actually nice, the weather is very nice (75 degrees today), and the wimins is hot. Add a great University (2nd largest in the country), a football team with hope, and you have a good reason to come here. Maybe you wouldn't want to live here your whole life, but I've enjoyed my last year here, and I've lived on 3 continents. Don't hate what you've never experienced.

I've lived in Texas for a long time, and didn't even know Texas Tech existed until I got an acceptance letter from them to go to school a few years back. Since becoming a Red Raider, I can't understand how people don't know who Tech is. After this year, it's hard to imagine any NCAA football fan that doesn't know the double T, but I can still see how people don't know that Tech can play ball.
Read Stew Mandell's latest report about the Sooners and the Gators. You won't find in it anywhere a word about Tech, even though he talks about all of this year's "good teams" and the lame bowl-games we're all stuck watching. Granted, Ole Miss seems like a weak gift for an 11-1 season that Tech has had, but it won't be a lame game.
Tech's always had a lame fanbase, weird coach, gimmicky offense, no defense, and a run-backwards offense, but we win. If that's what it takes to be 11-1 in the BigXII South, then I'll take it any day of the year, as any other team should as well. I just hope they don't and leave our Pirate Captain here.

Oklahoma would maybe, or Florida. They're all one-loss teams, so it would depend on who played better in their respective ways.
I've been telling my friends and family for over a week now that there's only one way to solve all of these questions. Tech just needs to snuff out OU. Plain and simple. It's going to be a barn burner...

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? It seems College football fans think you can't be a "great football team" unless you beat a "great football team." Tech is awesome because they beat Oklahoma State, Texas and Kansas. Texas is good because they beat Mizzou, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State is good because they beat Mizzou and almost Texas in Austin. Why is Mizzou good? Why was Kansas good? Does this make Texas, Tech, and OU not good teams, since the "great teams" they beat lost to so many other teams? This makes no sense, because we know that they ARE good teams; so why are we arguing about whether they are or not? And if this logic permeates to other conferences, who has anybody beaten that's any good? It seems every "great team" is great because they've beaten other teams with winning records. Yet most of these teams (SEC, Big 10, Big XII) have lost a game to someone either really good or really bad. Except for, um, that po-dunk school in Lubbock.
What happened to the days when we looked at a team's record and went from there? It does not matter who was the home team, who was hurt, or whatever not. Whoever won that game was the better team until they played again. Simpler times...
