They should not have had to match the offer. They had him under contract and it was a team option year. The only reason they let him out was because they had an agreement that he would sign for an amount more then he was currently making, which was fair for both sides. He went behind Clevelands back and started negotiating other deals. Not exactly a stand up move on both the Jazz and Boozer's parts, but if your the Jazz you had this coming.

Stephon marbury has played 12 seasons in the NBA. Only 2 of those 12 seasons did he have a winning record.

1997-98 Minnesota W45 - L 37
2004-05 Phoenix W 44 - L 38

The other 10 seasons are basically what the Knicks have had for the last 4 years. Horribly ugly LOSING seasons.

The 3 teams he left, Minny, NJ, and PHX all improved dramatically the year after he was tossed under the bus. Wanna know those records?

1999-00 Minnesota W50 - L 32

Marbury is simply a loser when it comes to winning basketball games. That is the tale of his NBA career. Walsh and D'antoni know this, thus they are planning to shove his losing **** out the door. Good riddance to whiny-sulky-overpaid-ball-hoggin-losers.

They did show case him and play him in the preseason. He has an unmovable contract. Why do you keep bringing up this same point. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY TRIED TO DO.

I think that while D'Antoni should have told Steph about his plans first, and that was his mistake. However they look like an organization willing to make and stick by difficult decisions. If Steph doesn't want to make a fair deal then sit him on the bench.

I'm not really sure what the Knicks have to be jealous of as an organization. Guy doesn't win, has a poor attitude and has refused to play twice. Frustration and disgust are not only caused by being jealous, and while most players in the NBA would like his dollars no one wants to be exiled and a joke.

Diaw would be a better fit for the Knicks in the short term, and he is also much more easier to trade if he does not look to be part of the Knicks long term future. Eddy Curry is part of the old regime that has to go. Find a way to get Jared Jeffries and that should pretty much wrap it up.

I think Shawn Marion is very much the product of Steve Nash and Mike D'Antoni's system. Terrible shooter and cannot consistently get to the hole. He's an offensive liability and not a premier rebounder. This address nothing that Cleveland is lack, and will make Lebron play the 4.

Cheap Shot = Outcoached? Can you name one time that another coach made a move that directly altered the outcome of a series against D'Antoni. His first year Joe Johnson was hurt, second year the more veteran Spurs cheap shotted Nash and drew the suspensions, and then the Shaq trade last year made it impossible for them to be at full strength for the playoffs.

How many titles does Jeff Van Gundy have (as much as I love him)? It took Larry Brown 26 years to win a championship. Please stop saying that D'Antoni's system will never win. Bottom line is if you have the best players who can make stops, and score more you will always have a chance.

Can anyone explain to me how a buyout with a player who has a player option would work. If we were to buyout Eddy Curry does his contract still count against the cap in 2010 even though he doesn't have a base contract that extends till that point?

Trainwreck, completely see your point of view, and the decision I believe is black and white. If you want the full amount enjoy watching. If you want to play for another team and make them better, and probably even much better then except the 80% which is typical. In either event the Knicks feel they need to do what is best for them in both the long and short term.
