I think the Leafs deserve some credit for testing the Bruins in every facet of the game. Carlyle has done an amazing job getting that dressing room to believe- we saw a glimpse of their potential this year.
They have a solid core. I hope that people give Kessel his due as well. The guy showed up in spades and played some great hockey at the most important time against his toughest rival.
Congrats to the B's for a spectacular series win. That series (epic collapse and all) was fantastic. Lucic showed plenty of guts and class in the end. Good luck.
PS- No sour grapes here at all, but how come there hasn't been any chatter about a possible suspension to Chris Kelly for that horrid elbow to vanRiemsdyk? That has to be classified as an intentional blow to the head, no? The guy threw a vicious elbow that drew blood. I don't know why there wasn't a hearing. Video evidence pretty much summed it up.
And btw, I LOVED the fact the refs swallowed the whistles and let the players decide that series. They played like men. Bruins outlasted the Leafs, so good on them. Hate when playoff games (especially game 7's) are decided by powerplays.
These games are a farce. Pure greed. Horrible sight-lines for hockey. Try following a puck around from normal bleacher seats in a baseball or football stadium - impossible. The spectacle has worn off. People need to stop acting like lemmings - these games are a joke. The original idea was cute. "Hey, wasn't it cute to see the players respecting their heritage, wearing toques and braving the weather..." blah blah.
Now it is just old. The ice is horrible, players can't even stickhandle after the first 10 minutes because of the bad conditions. And I haven't even mentioned the effect the weather may have on the game......
The weakest cog? You are serious? Have you even watched a hockey game?
Final stats 2013 NHL defenseman :
Dion is 9th in scoring. 1st in hits among the top 10 scorers. 1st in blocked shots among the top 10. He averages over 25 minutes a night vs. the top lines of other teams.
Where are you going to replace this guy - oh yeah, and he is your CAPTAIN. With Blacker? Liles? Percy or Gardiner? No free agent is available, and to get a guy with his ability would clear your prospect cupboard. Burke stole this guy from the Flames.
Please stop making such idiotic posts, or learn more about the game. One or the other.
Hendricks is a solid, but predictable fighter. Great right hand. GSP will avoid the right hand, jab Hendricks to death and look to take him down and pound to dust.
There may not be many surprises, but Hendricks is not going to be able to deal with the GSP onslaught.
After this fight, GSP looks to retire after facing the Spider in the biggest UFC in history - Cowboys Stadium, end of 2014.
Despite media criticism, Kessel has had his best season as a pro. Point/game pace, best playmaker on the team, and still when it is all said and done, probably on a pace to score 30+ goals in a full season.
This guy can't get a break from scribes and fans in Hogtown who somehow blame him for being dealt for Boston's Bounty. Yes, we get it, the Bruins won that deal. Kessel is still a fine player though. He has actually surprised me with his development into a top-flight playmaker to go with his goal-scoring. I always imagined he would be a better version of Sergei Berezin when he arrived. Berezin would rather be shaved with a rusty butter knife than pass a puck. Kessel has gained a lot of respect in my eyes anyway.
The saving grace for Holmgren is he drafts and trades well. For every stinker, he can look to Briere, Read, Couturier, Giroux, Hartnell, Pringer, Meszaros,Timmonen, Schenn, Voracek... Yes, he has made some mistakes, but this club is still set for the near future when you look at their core.
Great comment. Fans are frustrated due to previous failures. The call-ups are not part of it, as well as rookies and youngsters. Regier should be shown the door asap. This club needs a new start from the top down. Lots of stale blood in the room and upstairs. Pegila seems ready to whatever required to win, but is a little too stubborn/loyal for his own good.
Seriously though, the guy doesn't deserve to be vilified for being honest. He said what everyone already knew. His contract does suck. It is the single reason why he wasn't dealt. Would any of us NOT signed it? Doubtful. Term and security, on advice from his agent. He isn't saying it sucks to be a millionaire, which some of the media have painted. Too much piling on the dude.
Besides not being as quick, strong, athletic, or able to jump with the men, everything else is equal. The worst player in the NBA could rewrite the WNBA record books.
"You just got to get out there and play and I know he can be and will be the quarterback that is going to be the quarterback that is going to take us to the next level."
Um, after examing the tapes of every big game the Cowboys have played with Romo as QB - ummm, no, he is not going to get you to the next level Mr. Ware. Not even close.
This guy just can't shut up. He has quickly become one of the more annoying players in the league. Since when does a GM (and I am no fan of Regier, btw) owe a talk to a player? Shut the pie hole and just play Miller, your play over the last 2-3 years has been a major contributor to the Sabres lack of postseason play. What a ****.
I would be more worried about the B's supposed "stars" going dry, as they have in the last month, including the "superstar" Lucic who has hands of cement, good for punching, not so much for goal-scoring. Oh yeah, and you have a guy who recently suffered another concussion, don't you? That would cripple any ring hopes too. Oh, and a green goalie in the postseason too.
A lot on your plate to be concerned about the Leafs. A Leafs team that just took 3 of 4 points from your bad boys.

Just saying.
You might understand now.
Jagr can still be a big help on the PP, still rags the puck and has great vision, even at his age.
