I believe the Leafs may be interested in DeBoer if he becomes available. Seems to be respected in most circles - and most importantly, may have an inside track to jump-starting the 5 million dollar enigmatic Prodigal Son.

You know you are a floater/cancer when you score 50 goals in a season, yet everyone is waiting at the door with parting gifts for you.

Poor dude's only options are playing for Jacksonville or Cleveland?

Is his dad Eddie Mush?

This is Oates fault?

HIs golaie didn't want to play because he was "uncomfortable" playing his old team.

Oates simply told the truth. Prolly wanted to embarass the stiff. I have never heard of that excuse before. Ever. The guy is a pro athlete, paid millions, and he has the nads to tell his new boss that he is too uncomfortable to compete against his old buddies?

I would have started him anyway, and left him in even if he was shelled. Teach him a little about responsibility to his teammates, his organization and about being a pro athlete.

Bring back the Goose.

Funny how a guy who is a Lakers fans is slinging arrows about buying championships?

Yeah, 50 goals and what - 20 assists? The dude is as selfish as they come. Parallel of 2 careers - Sid and Ovie. Guess which dude "gets it"? Crosby bleeds to win - leading with work ethic. There isn't a player in the world who questions his desire to compete and win. Gretzky even marvels at it, not a guy who gushes openly. Ovie has how many backers? How many players, coaches, any other hockey types that go out of their way to praise this stiff? The guy is a -minus 35? To score 50 goals and still lead the league in minus is mind-boggling. Ovie is a PP specialist, is all. He stands motionless on the right flank and flails away, burying slappers. He doesn't - hasn't dominated in any form of 5 on 5 hockey in a few years now. He is invisible most nights until the PP rolls out. His team has never won a thing, despite having talent. The Caps begged this kid to lead, and all he wanted was to be a rock star, coast on his talent, kill coaches who dared try to make him a more complete player - oh yeah - and disappear in the clutch, several times, for both the Caps and Mama Russia.

When was the last time you saw any of those players (Howe, Hull, Orr??? or any other legend) coasting back, without stride, as opposition stormed the net and scored?

You will be searching the video room a long time my friend.

This guy is a huge cancer. He is a captain - whose response to his latest quit-job was a "who, me?". Any player worth a penny would have looked the camera in the eye and apologized to teammates and fans. Trapped on video, and not the first time, stick on knees, looking like a beer league player while another team scores? Bush league. Embarassing.

The only reason he hasn't been shipped long ago is because Leonsis knows that he sells jerseys and there would be a huge outcry from whiny Caps fans = loss of cash.

Guy is the poster boy for underachieving.

This kid needs someone to come in and keep him honest. Is Gary Roberts still playing?

Dealing him would be a mistake - at least for now.

Steelers don't need his aching knees. They have worries in a lot of other places to worry about signing a has-been.

It was a brainless/gutless play. You are taught in minor hockey never to shove a guy when racing for a puck. Bonehead.

Let me check to see if I am reading this correctly - the Flyers threw huge money at a guy and it didn't work out?
Posted Saturday March 22, 2014, About: Why Matt Calvert called Rick Nash 'gutless'
Nash took the puck hard to the net, like he has 1000's of times. There was incidental contact, not nearly a "kamikaze" effort. Calvert did his job by combing Nash and delivering a mauling while Nash was on the ice. Don't know what you wanted Nash to do - walk away from the little dude? That would have played better in your books?

Lack of depth on blue line will wear them down this year. Chara will have to play huge minutes with no Seidenberg. The Bruins have played a ton of hockey over the last few years, it has to start catching up with them soon. Once the playoff intensity ratchets up again, B's will be in tough to take their physical game to another level again and win 4 series.

The Pens are not a threat to anyone as long as they have Captain Choke (Fleury) manning the fort. Goaltending should have been addressed and wasn't. They won't go either.

I am voting for a new entry from the East this year. Depends on who is on a roll going in, still a ways away.

Weber would NEVER go to Deadmonton. Guaranteed he has a NM clause in that monster deal he signed a couple of years ago. He makes way too much money for Edmonton's liking anyway.

They have to draft smart, and sign more veterans to add character to this frat house.

The West is Death Row this year. So many great clubs out there, the East has to hope they kill each other to have a decent shot at the Cup. Ducks, Blues, Sharks, Hawks, Kings all are better than anyone in East.

Don't like Lowry long term. This guy smells like a contract chaser, and has been difficult to deal with in the past. I don't like players who have great seasons when contracts are up, then revert back to old habits once they get their dollars. Raps would have been wise to deal him while he is in Superman mode, before they get Clark Kent back next season.

Can't blame Rangers for dealing this guy. I hate the trade for him, but bottom line is this kid is not a 6 million dollar player. He has tons of heart, but is not offensively gifted to pay such big dollars.
