As much as I hate to say this being a Yankees fan, but I am inclined to agree that if the Giants come close to what the Yankees have on the table, he is going to sign with SF. He's wants a Johan Santana type of contract and Santana's average value of his contract is $22.7M, so lets just suppose that the Giants offer him 5 years- $115M.......would Sabathia leave $25M on the table from the Yankees and stay out on the west coast?? That's the million dollar question. Would Sabathia take less years and less money (although it would make him the highest paid pitcher in avg. yearly salary)?? Like I said, if SF makes him the above offer, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he did to the Yankees what Greg Maddux did many years ago in leaving money on the table to go to a place he's more comfortable in.
