Pop has a point! I recall watching the draft film for Tony Parker and laughing because I had never heard of him and some of the footage was what looked like a cell phone camera! I thought San Antonio at the time was making a mistake on a no name versus so many players I watched flourish in College. Now look at him and how he compares to those players! Well, as a kid, he like other Euro stars was playing semi-pro ball...not being used by some AAU program to hopefully be the next kid they can eat off of. It's sad, but coaching AAU and seeing my son play, I see this EVERYDAY! No one wants "skills" anymore, they want the NEXT... I used to play with D'Andre Jordan everyday when he was in High School training to get to College and was shocked to see that his game is EXACTLY THE SAME now as it was then....because everyone was cool with him jumping out the gym and dunking, but never developing any skills as a big man! Sad that this is very true!
That is not a fair assessment of those coaches...and coincidentally, Lawrence Frank coached Jason Kidd and the Nets to a record win streak in his coaching debut! Those guys are all good coaches who weren't always in the best situations to succeed, but have all had some level of success. But to give a player with 0 actual coaching experience, fresh off of a retirement a shot at a head coaching job before actual head coaches and some great assistants and HOF coaches currently looking for jobs.............I can just say, good luck Brooklyn.....
HAD TO BE HIS CALL! The Clippers originally said he was safe...you can look that up. Then all of a sudden, a month later, you fire the coach?! Why wait? Um, because it was necessary to keep your star PG! I saw an article stating that he did not like VDN well before the firing and don't be surprised if he is and Byron Scott will be pursued because he liked playing with him in New Orleans. And guess what just came out today...Clippers in talks with Byron Scott....CP3 is a primadonna ladies and gents!
Living here in Houston, they are all about the names. Not how it fits, how much it costs, or anything that makes sense. The Harden trade for example was a HUGE risk which paid off, but wasn't enough. Now you want to bring in a player who still has some issues of his own to address, and all the while, you just spent big money on your current center. Not sure if that is the answer, but I know Houston, who always feels the need to compete with the other bigger markets, will try!
Agreed. He was cleared as well as various "I might play" reports. All the while, you had teammates near death in the hospital wanting to play through it, guys with all types of pain and ailments, and he sits there in a suit cheering them on after a report comes out that there is still a possibility that he could play in the Playoffs. And that is the fans fault for the false hope? Makes no sense. I say he should have said he definitely was not coming back and leave it at that and the hate wouldn't have mustered for him. He also shouldn't have let him being cleared become public information if that wasn't enough for him to play. Otherwise, the ONLY reason he didn't play was because he was afraid, not physically incapable of playing. Which imo, meant why not give it limited minutes, instead of maybe I might play, or none at all. He deserves all the hate he is getting....sorry, but that is the truth.
No! I will not sit and here agree with this debauchery horribly disguised as a joke! This has Dwayne Wade wardrobe written all over it! LOL! We will see man, that is all I can say.
2 new coaches 3 offenses/? new defenses Starting PG out for 30 games Starting PF out for 20 games Starting Center out for multiple games Starting SF out for 10 games Backup forward out for 1/2 the season Backup players oft injured or sent to the D-League
Did you see their roster in the playoffs? Come on man, Carmelo would have needed to smoke some Lala that had magic in it to lead that team. Like my wordplay? Lala, Magic...lol!
Not about the money....Kobe could have done a p&rn movie with something about Colorado in the title with Jenna Jamison and would have been set for life money-wise....but I doubt he is worried about money at this point. Two words: Leg- Acy
Well, it IS the Lakers, and Kobe is one of their all-time greats. Not sure how many teams would even be willing to take that kind of PR hit and still lose money regardless of revenue that person generates despite their price tag. I saw how Houston treated Hakeem hurt them really, REALLY bad. To go to Toronto!? Really? Hakeem has been a part of Houston basketball for decades, and you let him to to play in Toronto...gtfoh! Teams are not THAT desperate to save money book money....sorry.
Nobody wants to play in NY so Spike Lee can love them when they win, and troll them when they don't...deal with J.R. Smith shooting 3s like the World is going to end right after the game or throwing up gang signs while getting drunk with Rihanna. Oh, and Amare dresses funny too....lol!
Well, C is not completely true. Players have. They may have not been the same, but, Kobe came back from injuries that were said to be game changers at his age. He was one of the first to use the blood spinning procedure and overcame knee problems. So, the Lakers org. is not going to bet against him before seeing what happens. And to make my point again, his symbolism alone is what makes this conversation null and void. It's not going to happen. They have been smart enough to hold on to their amnesty exception and will use it wisely for the right pieces.
That is not a fair assessment. This team was doomed from the start with changes to personnel, game plans, and injuries. Who can "lead" that to anything? That is not all indicative of Kobe's leadership. I do recall the team getting on his back as he guaranteed making the Playoffs and playing so much it hurt him in the end. THAT is leadership, not JUST winning rings. Despite what Phil says, I don't know many people like that PERIOD. But, I understand that we are in virtual GM mode right now....I get that, but it is just not realistic and wortk "what ifing" imo.
Come back how? So the Lakers would be ok with paying him to sit out?? Seriously? Then amnesty him so he can sign somewhere else and get paid more to play? That makes no sense.
People are always loyal to themselves first. I mean, I love my job, but who I am pales in contrast to them. If you think Kobe thinks his team would be better without him, then I don't think you really know him.

AS A FAN OF THE LAKERS, I BELIEVE HE WILL COME BACK AND CONTRIBUTE.
If not, still a Lakers fan and will continue to be a Kobe fan for what he has done.
Otherwise, doubt if you aren't a Lakers fan....
Thanks...funny too, because that is a word meaning to poke...lol!
