regardless of what we think about him now ... JFK did keep us out of what should -- by all accounts -- have been the first nuclear war AND win the poker hand in doing so. Cost Mr. Kruschev his job, it did.

WTF is it that people are so short sighted to not credit ourselves for an endeavor that is as great ... if not greater ... than the building of the effin pyramids? An astounding feat for our small animal species in any context.

middle relief is an idea. In past 5 - 6 years Smoltz has really excelled when he is 'one inning' closer. He hasn't had starter stuff in years. Sox don't need a closer, but middle reliever -- doing a spell as such in minors for test purposes -- might make sense. Particularly if it goes right and they make it to playoffs.

Say it again ... and again ... and again. Bud Selig needs to resign or be fired. Other MLB Commissioners didn't fail to take the hard pill. They put the game first. Then again ... Selig was selected/re-elected for being the willing enabler. Not for being someone who put 1st the best interests of the game.

As long as he remains steward of MLB, MLB will have no police on the street. Only Capone in Chicago had it sooo good. Come to think of it, it was the Feds who had to take him down too...

.... speaking of jail birds, came up with a workable solution for Pittsburgh's Harrison. Instead of euthanizing the pit bull that bit his son, wife, and massage therapist (there's separate blog material there), they should have dog rehab with Mike Vick. I'm sure it will give both a chance to improve their image going forward.
