Pickens has enough dough for all of us and quite a lot of clout but really it was more that so many teams in a variety of conferences either felt shafted (Stanford, Michigan State, TCU, etc.) or have been publicly called out (VT, WVU, etc.) such that very few people are happy. Of course Jim Delaney's against anything vaguely resembling progress.

Wow. I got demoted to 26 comments. I guess the other 1000+ posts were more bs than I thought.

The whole thing is getting blown up in the next couple years. We just had to wait until the right people got screwed.

College football needs to be contracted. At least "bigtime" CFB. A top tier of conferences 4-6 12-16 team megaconferences should trudge onward all with an opportunity to play for a championship and the rest should be demoted to I-AA or whatever they want to call it. There doesn't necessarily need to be a northeastern conference that plays at that level. The northeast is not and never really will be CFB country in the same way that the midwest, southeast, texas, are.

Dear SEC,
Please save us. Thank you.

WVU and Pitt - not many of the others can boast battery throwing as commonplace!

I forgot to mention Wanny inevitably getting canned at the end of this year and that's got to help Pitt.
Posted Tuesday November 30, 2010, About: TCU to the Big East- what it means
With Skip Holtz likely to stabilize and improve things at USF, Marrone turning things around at Syracuse, Strong righting the ship at Louisville, WVU fielding a generally solid if unspectacular team, and now TCU I think the BE is going to be pretty competitive for the next few years. I don't think anyone knows if TCU could sustain success if Patterson were to leave but it seems a little less likely that he would leave after joining an AQ conference. It's probably a short-sighted move on the part of the BE but short-sighted is better than blind.

The goal of the BCS is to place the best two teams together in the mythical CG. The remaining games are just for sport. Debate all you want about the participants in the CG, but the rest is a crapshoot.

Oregon and Auburn. First one to 100 wins.

I will now duck and cover as the playoffers reign fire down upon me.

I'm completely ok with the subjectivity. In a sport when each team plays just a small number of the available competition there will never be a way to eliminate subjectivity. Lots of people clamor for a playoff and that's all well and good but I enjoy the current landscape. As a fan of a team that likely will never play in the mythical NCG in my lifetime, I'm happy to see my team have a successful season and go to a bowl game. It's fine to have a playoff in a sport where a reasonable chunk of the teams can be expected to make the postseason but in a sport with > 100 teams that won't make the playoff I find it undesirable and always will.

We've got some nice players and the best throwing QB we've had since Bulger but honestly I'm just hoping we make it out of Saturday night in Baton Rouge with some dignity.
