Especially matsui, who has a full no trade clause. And even if he did waive it, he'll be 35 when the season starts, coming off a 9 hr season and knee surgery, and is owed $13 million for 2009. Damon maybe could be dealt, he did have a good year last year, but he's 35 also, and can't throw anymore really. Plus it would have to be to a big market team, cause he is also owed $13 million in 2009 as well and has a partial no-trade, unless the yanks are willing to swallow some of it.
Best thing the yankees can say about these two is that they both come off the books after this season.
The bigger question, diehardmetsfan, is who is the right handed, power hitting player who is going to play left field for the mets in 2009??? (please don't say fernando martinez, daniel murphy or fernando tatis.)
