Yes, maybe playing with 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 forwards AND a striker, plus a goalie would give the US a better chance. If we can't beat Egypt with TWELVE players, then we don't deserve to even try to qualify for the World Cup next year.

You guys are idiots on the uniforms. The uniforms are there to appeal to recruits, not old fuddies like us sitting in the stands (in the rain). Plus, Oregon has the LARGEST carrot possible to dangle in front of the recruits--Nike, Inc. You might also notice that the Nike swoosh is on MOST college football uniforms, not just the Oregon ones.

Well I see at least four national championships in that group (probably more, but just off the top of my head). And I see a #2 Oregon program who are consistently ranked in the top 15.

You can hang on to all the Florida State, Alabama, Nebraska, Notre Dame et. al. glory, but an informed recruit will notice that an Oregon, Utah or Virginia Tech type program has been much more successful than a lot of the supposed "top tier" programs in the BCS era.

That's not true. Oregon's games versus Purdue, USC, Arizona, Cal and Oregon State were all on TV here in Austin.

Sandy, I normally love your in-your-face comments to stupid SEC fans, but this one is just wrong. I live in Texas but went to Oregon. I get at least three usually about five nationally televised Duck games a year. Last year I watched Purdue, USC, Oregon State, Arizona, Cal on expanded cable here in Austin.
Posted Thursday January 22, 2009, About: Scouts: Tebow an NFL star--or a bust
Here are some of Steve Young's amazing NFL accomplishments. Can you honestly say Tim Tebow could do ANYTHING in this list? Let's just hope UF loses three games next year so we can stop all this ridiculous Tebow love.

Steve Young:
Highest Passer Rating, Career - 96.9
Most Rushing Touchdowns by a QB, Career - 43
Most Passing Titles, Career - 6 (tied w/Sammy Baugh)
Most Consecutive Passing Titles - 4 (1991-94)
Most Seasons With a Passer Rating Over 100, Career - 6 (1991-94, 1997-98)
Most Consecutive Games w/300+ Yards Passing - 6
One of only 4 QB's to lead the league in touchdown passes 4 times (tied w/Johnny Unitas, Brett Favre, and Len Dawson)
Most TD Passes, Playoff Game - 6 (tied w/Daryle Lamonica)
Most TD Passes in one Super Bowl - 6

They said the same things about Joey Harrington, but leadership at the college level didn't transfer well to the over-paid babies in the NFL. Tebows post-game bible sermons and sideline fist pumping won't do a single thing to motivate and a squad of grown NFL men.
Posted Saturday December 20, 2008, About: Mike Stoops linked to Iowa State job
You can replace "Iowa State" with "Oregon" in your list and your argument doesn't make sense. How is Oregon consistently the #1 or #2 team in the Pac-10 pretty much every year since 1998 when Oregon has two cities (Portand 500,000, and Eugene 200,000)? They have to recruit in the biggest football state (California), and they fight over the in-state recruits with Oregon State (another team with the same "problem" as Iowa State). All small schools have the problems you list. Some just do a better job. Virginia Tech and Oregon come immediately to mind, and I'm sure there are other small programs (in major conferences) with great results lately that I'm forgetting.
Posted Tuesday December 02, 2008, About: Who will Bellotti vote for?
You need to check bowl histories and "preseason" games involving Pac-10 and Big-12 teams. It isn't very flattering to the Big-12. But we'll see this year. I think Oregon vs. Oklahoma State is an interesting matchup (carbon copies of each other on the stat lines).
