Posted Tuesday November 24, 2009, About: Roy: Miller controversy not my fault
Do any of you watch the Blazers play? The reason Blake is starting is because Roy plays better with the ball in his hands. So does Miller. If one has the ball the other is standing around. Blake just complements Roy's game better than Miller. Blake is a good outside shooter giving Roy an outlet when he drives. Miller is not a shooter. Also, Blake is a better defensive player than Miller (though neither will win defensive POY anytime soon). Roy is a player like Kobe, Lebron, and Wade. They each control the ball in most situations. The Blazers also need Miller to run the offense on the second team on a very deep squad. The 2nd team plays better when he's in. He lends stability. All in all, Miller gets plenty of PT. And I agree that Roy is a very mature team oriented guy. We Blazer fans love having him here in Portland.
Posted Monday November 02, 2009, About: Could Bulls lure Wade to Chicago?
Wade and Rose wouldn't be a good match because each needs the ball in their hands to be successful. Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Roy- all play best with point guards who don't dominate the ball.
Posted Saturday October 24, 2009, About: Will Miller stay happy on Blazers bench?
If the game were one on one, then maybe it makes sense to choose Miller over Blake- but it's not one on one. It's a team game. A bigger factor than either Miller or Blake is Brandon Roy. His game is to have the ball in his hands to create most of his shots. Having the ball in Miller's hands takes away from that. Look at the point guards playing with Kobe, Lebron,, and Wade. None of them dominate the ball because those 3 create by themselves (and are all good passers- albeit that Kobe has only started relying on teammates in the past couple years). Roy is the same. That's why playing Blake with Roy makes more sense for the team. As has been said, Blake's a much better outside shooter. Miller on the other hand will be great with the bench unit because besides Priczbilla they all shoot well. Having a penetrator like Miller can help create better shots for them. Portland has a second team that could nearly make the playoffs themselves, so adding a seasoned PG like Miller to take control of that unit makes great sense. Little or no drop off from 1st to 2nd unit. The point is that the team functions best twhen Blake plays with Roy and that's what counts. And minutes and who finishes the games is a more accurate indicator of importance to a team than who starts.

I think they're better with Lamar coming off the bench. He sparks and controls the 2nd unit. They have plenty of firepower without him on the starting team. This all assumes Bynum stays healthy and plays well. Besides, why stir up a hornets nest with Artest?
Posted Friday September 18, 2009, About: Arenas causing waves in D.C.?
Like most are saying, Gil needs to take personal responsibility for the choices he makes. I like that he gave some 10 million of his contract offer back to the team so he could better put himself in position to play for a winner. That's smart and that's class. That said, there are still some concepts he he just hasn't latched on to. With a little luck, he'll have read the blogs and learned from them.
Posted Friday September 18, 2009, About: Sources: Nuggets pursuing Flip Murray
Flip is a point guard only in size. He's a scorer-a good one and good in the clutch. I think he'd fit well with Denver. Not known for his "D", but could give solid minutes at the back-up 2 guard. I like the fit. And no, it doesn't impact Denver's chances of beating LA, but only San Antonio and Portland could beat LA- assuming they're healthy. Take the contract and make yourself valuable, Flip. Next year will be a better year financially.
Posted Sunday July 26, 2009, About: Oden sets moodiness aside
He is a young player adjusting to his first big job with some very unreasonable expectations heaped on him. Add to that the burden of overcoming injuries and the worry that they'll persist, I think he had reason to be moody. As his life and the expectations level out, and he gets his game back, he'll be fine.
Posted Friday July 24, 2009, About: Sixers withdraw Miller offer
Miller wouldn't be an upgrade on Blake, so there is no sense in paying him more money. He can't shoot the 3 ball, and it's imperative the the Blazers have a point who can because of their style of play. They have to spread the floor for Roy, Aldridge, and Oden to have room to work down low. With Miller in there it would be an easy double team.
Posted Thursday July 23, 2009, About: Blazers targeting Andre Miller
The dude can't shoot. He's not a good fit. I like that he can penetrate, but if he can't knock down the 3-ball, he won't fit. Plus he's too old to be worth the money. Save the money for a better player.
Posted Monday January 19, 2009, About: Owner: McHale to decide own future
McHale, while not being the most savvy GM in making trades and drafting players, has taken a losing team with a lot of young players and simplified things. As a result, they've turned there season around and have won 6 of 7. Sounds like a good coach to me.
Posted Friday January 16, 2009, About: Blazers eyeing Knicks' Curry
Kevin Pritchard is much to good a judge of talent to ever go for Curry. Aside from the fact that they already have two good centers, Curry has proven to be injury prone, not a hard worker, often out of shape, has trouble playing if others are in the low post, and one dimensional at best- and no defense. Trading for Curry would be absolute proof that Pritchard has taken to smoking crack.
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Portland-Memphis deal dead for now
The Blazers would be foolish to trade any one of their players now. The team is winning, there are no glaring weaknesses, they all get along, virtually every player is getting significant minutes, and they continue to improve. They are a young team that needs to stay together and grow. Leave well enough alone.
Posted Saturday November 29, 2008, About: Marbury 'shocked' by ban
Why would anyone bother with Marbury. Yes, he's a talented player, but he's had trouble with every team he's been on, and it's obvious he's all about himself and not the team. And if he really wants to be traded, it would make a lot more sense to play, show he still has a game and value, and then get shipped (though if he gets waived or bought out he gets to play where he prefers instead of whoever is willing to trade for him).
