Fair enough, but I don't think that makes anyone a hypocrite for caring more. If Brantley were hurt, people would have the same general feelings of "I hope he has a full recovery" but I don't think we should single people out for not showing the same outpouring of affection or whatever.

Yeah, you're right. Because when discussing players, my team's bowl record has everything to do with that player. Irrelevant.

The SEC won't demise, but it will go back to it's 90s self full of choking teams (UT anyone?) and big game letdowns (Although from the looks of it, most of you guys are too young to remember Neb-UF). It's all cyclical.

Oh, you're right. Tebow isn't self-promoting at all. I'm sure that spread in GQ was done for the good of orphans or something. And I'm sure he hates how much the media talks about his "ministry" and that said coverage doesn't have any effect on how successful his evangelizing trips go.

I disagree. While no one wants to see someone get hurt, this is a [i]game[/i] where some people's skills are more valuable than others. Tebow is a better QB than Brantley and has more of an impact on the nation's title picture than any other player. So I think it's fair that we care more about how hurt Tebow is than others. We watch these guys because they play the game, not because we really give a damn about how the rest of their lives are chugging along.

1) What, Tebow is a great guy because he is a Christian? The kind of Christian whose ministry expressly states that he doesn't believe non-baptist Christians are able to be "saved"? http://www.btea.org/whatwebelieve.asp Check paragraph IX. By Tebow's definition, most of us are going to hell, unless we let his daddy save us. Once Tebow starts doing things for the good of doing them and not under the guise of "saving" people, I'll start to respect him.

2) Tebow is a good football player, but we are sick of hearing about how tremendous he is when he runs up the score against FIU or Troy. Not every week is a fantastic performance.

3) He got hurt. It's serious. I hope for the sake of the sport he is able to play in two weeks so LSU can shut him down. But stop knocking the UK player for celebrating. He had just crushed the best player in the nation, and had reason to celebrate. There was no way to know that Tebow was actually hurt, and I'm sure after he realized Tebow was down he stopped.

4) Then again, with how much the media and UF fans talk about how Tebow is invincible, I guess we learned he's not and those of use who are sick of hearing about him have reason to be a little glad he took one on the chin. No one needs to be on a pedestal for too long.

Back pain? Really? I would say maybe he's been sleeping on his side funny or something, but as we know Tebow isn't bedding anything down. Except his Bible and his plush Jesus doll.

1. Well yeah, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Vandy and Miss St are probably out. But I think in all conferences, the top three or four programs have significant enough budgets where some equipment expenditures wouldn't break the bank. Ole Miss was just a toss out, I'd be fine with any big program.

2. yeah, ADs suck.

As to count 1: Urban Meyer. Overcoats (assuming the equipment manager keeps them after the one game and they aren't given to the players) and other personal equipment for the fifty-some guys who dress would not be that bad. Sideline heaters and the like are usually provided for by the home team/facility. C'mon, if the athletic booster program can afford $750,000 extra a year for Urb, they can spring for some under armour every couple of years.

2. I understand the revenue argument, but I hate it. When Jim Tressel was hired at tOSU, he asked AD Gene Smith to improve the schedule with a "marquee" home and home each year. Gene wanted to rotate between the other five BCS conferences, and had no problem lining up Miami, Va Tech, Oklahoma, Cal, and USC. However, when he tried to put something together with the SEC, most ADs blabbed about losing revenue. I was under the impression that adding an OoC road game wouldn't kill your revenue that much as you could always get two pasties to come to your stadium. Additionally, the SEC has been bragging about their TV contract long before the ESPN deal, and I don't get how playing a home and home would kill their budgets.

Luckily, Tennessee sacked up and I'm looking forward to that matchup.

Generally speaking, baseball stadiums do suck for football. But a game in Yankee Stadium (evne though its new) has a certain ring to it. I think Army used to play games there on a regular basis, and it would be fun to bring back some of that tradition.

As far as the weather, the NFL stadiums sell out and are full in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, etc...no matter how cold it is. I don't think college would be any different. (Hello? Big Ten? You guys are free to add a week to the season any time you want. Freezing your ass off while watching a game actually adds some fun to it.

I have transplanted family in Louisville and Nashville (and some in Florida) and have spent Thanksgivings and Christmases there. While those places get a little chilly in December, I also know my cousins have school cancelled if there is more than a half an inch of snow on the ground and they've never seen anything like a Cleveland winter down there.

I'd just like to see how an Ole Miss would play in the Bronx with 6 inches of snow on the ground and another four inches fourcast throughout the afternoon.

I'd also like to see Florida play somewhere up north, but I don't think the Citadel or FAU are moving campus locations anytime soon.

I like this idea. I'd like to see a Big East - SEC or Big 12 matchup here. Bring one of the southern teams up to the North in the dead of winter and see how well they perform. Having it in the biggest market in the country would immediately give it a big profile and would attract alumni to buy tickets without a problem.

College Football North: After being outside tailgating in the snow since 6 A.M on a 20 degree October/November morning, polishing off a few cases of Smithwicks or Yuengling (or natty if they're still in college), smashing some brats and italian sandwiches and watching the whole game cuddled up to the gal in the seat next to you, the fans head inside to the nearest pub, have some whiskey to start warming up and watch the remaining slate of games on ESPN and hear the commentators talk about how tough it is to play in the "rain" in a half empty Doak Campbell stadium.

College Football South: After finishing off his sixth slab of god awful mustard rubbed ribs, the Florida fan starts chanting "SEC" after waxing that terribly tough Miami team. Then of course, the Florida fan starts rapping off some scores of recent games and rants about "superiority", conveniently forgetting their conference's near even split with the big ten the last six years, not to mention Florida's 62-24 drubbing at the hands of a big 12 team not too long ago.
