Probably true but when was the last time a top 5 player demanded a trade while still on their rookie contract(1st 4-5yrs) I can't think of 1. Players window for leaving a team is normally around yrs 6-8, on their 2nd contract. (LBJ, Bosh, D Will, CP3 etc. . .)
Posted Thursday April 19, 2012, About: Irving begged to play, via text
Somewhat of a tough spot for the Cavs. They have control of him for the next 4yrs and probably longer.(Top pks off rookie contracts almost always resign) In other words this is a long term investment, team probably doesn't want to play him but Irving is a gym rat. Don't want Irving pissed and saying something about being fine while the Cavs sat him gms. Scott will probably keep his minutes down and maybe sit him a gm.
Posted Wednesday April 11, 2012, About: Heat lacking mental discipline?
Miami suffers from the same thing it has since day 1 of the big 3, immature thinking. They simply think they can just turn it on at will come playoff time, not taking into account that there is more to it than that. They probably think they'll beat BOS in playoffs just simply cause they did last yr, not taking into account that maybe BOS will adjust.

Still think they'll win a title, that is a hell of a lot of talent, just not this yr, they're not ready yet.
Posted Sunday April 08, 2012, About: Why Cavs will likely pass on Sullinger
This is pretty obvious, not sure Sullinger will be any better than Thompson who they just drafted. Cavs should be in 3-6 area in draft, probably won't get a superstar there but draft is deep enough that they should get an impact player. Not sure Sullinger is that

Agree. Give him a little to grow into the position. Also think of the top 5 teams in lottery CLE may be best landing spot for him, doesn't have to worry about being the man and can feed off Irving's ability to collapse defenses
Posted Tuesday April 03, 2012, About: The biggest question about Anthony Davis
You take him 1 because of the defense and rebounding, tough to teach that. Plus he's still learning to be a big, only 2yrs removed from being a guard. It would also help his offense if one of the teams with a good slashing, PG won the lottery(MIN, CLE, WASH, etc. . .)
Posted Sunday February 19, 2012, About: Wall irked by late Rising Stars pick
So Wall is taking the "fantasy GM" work of Barkley and Shaq as a rejection? Really? I'm not sure how to even respond to that.
Posted Thursday January 26, 2012, About: Howard could see himself in green
Not at all. My point is that CLE should be a place guys would come to because of the situation mgmt has created in last yr or so.
Posted Thursday January 26, 2012, About: Howard could see himself in green
I highly doubt he would ever come to Cleveland. Here's an interesting thought though, if you remove the name of the city, the Cavs have one of the best situations going forward. They have 2 interesting young players, the most draft pks in the next 4yrs, 7 1st, 7 2nd, and 20-30mill in cap space after the season. If that was the situation in NY, LA, or any of the other "sexy" destinations, players would be lining up.
Posted Thursday January 26, 2012, About: Howard could see himself in green
If its about choosing his team and winning, not the bottom dollar then his best choice is to go to free agency, not sign an extension with anyone during the season. There will be more than the normal amount of teams with cap space because of the amnesty. He'd probably have 10+ choices of teams/situations to choose from but it may mean leaving some money on table because he would be leaving his current team.
Posted Sunday January 22, 2012, About: Why Magic may keep Howard
True, and in basketball terms, probably would make the most sense of the teams with cap space.
Posted Sunday January 22, 2012, About: Why Magic may keep Howard
Totally agree. They have the most picks of any team in the next 4yrs, 7 1st, 7 2nd. Actually considering where they were day after the decision, still 20million over cap and only having their picks, they've done well in a yr and a half.
Posted Sunday January 22, 2012, About: Why Magic may keep Howard
Technically true. The offset of having to pay no state tax in FLA makes up for most of the small yearly cut they did take.
Posted Sunday January 22, 2012, About: Why Magic may keep Howard
Very true. CLE will have a ton of cap space this comming yr, 2 max deal space if a minor move or 2 are made. They're not getting any big name FA's, even though they are a slightly larger market than ORL.
Posted Sunday January 22, 2012, About: Why Magic may keep Howard
Agree with this. I'd be slightly surprised if he left anyway. Not only can ORL offer 30million more, no state tax in FLA, most anywhere he goes would have state tax. What it means is its more like 35-40million, maybe even 45million, depending on the state, that he would be leaving behind. That's no joke, that's like 10-15X the cut LBJ and Bosh took.
Posted Monday January 16, 2012, About: Bosh on Wade injury: A blessing in disguise
Blessing? 3 injuries in 9gms, he already missed 3. He's 30, has an injury history and is playing in this crazy schedule, good luck. Without Wade, MIA is little different then the Cavs teams with LBJ that won 60+, we know how that ends
Posted Tuesday January 10, 2012, About: Wade raises concern of plantar fasciitis
Wade does turn 30 in a few weeks. That's about the age these guys start having little injuries linger around. The pace of this yr won't help any either.
Posted Tuesday October 18, 2011, About: League official blames Garnett for [bleeping] things up
Although by no means do I think this is all his fault, I'm sure the way last summer went down is a part of the psychology of they owners stance.
Posted Tuesday October 18, 2011, About: Stoudemire pins lockout on his former boss
That's exactly how I feel. The players need to realize that this is a game they are not trained for and everytime they step in front of a mic or keyboard they are part of the negotation. These owners are the elite of business men, the equal of a max deal player in basketball. It's just not an area most of the players are trained or educated for, they never needed to be. It just seems to be in their best interest to keep quiet and allow the folks they have who are trained for this do their work.
Posted Tuesday October 18, 2011, About: Stoudemire pins lockout on his former boss
Stern is no idiot. Lock his owners up, keep them quiet, and sit back and watch the players union go nuts trying to keep 400+ players from saying stupid stuff. They'll never keep them in line and there are too many uneducated(not stupid, uneducated) players out there with accesss to a microphone or keyboard.
Posted Monday September 26, 2011, About: Look out, NBA? LeBron shows off post game
Miami fans have yet to learn something that CLE fans already know. He doesn't want to play in the post. It was reported in at least 3 or 4 offseasons in CLE that he was working on his post game. Believe it when I see it, in multiple games, over a good part of the season
