I dont see any current third baseman hit like Cabby though. Honestly- there is going to be a trade off. But he CAN play the position. Thats better than Hanley who has to learn it. And thats better than inge who is average now defensive but a black hole in hitting.
There is going to be a trade off because there is no perfect hitter defender out there.
I know there will be things missed- but I have seen Inge miss plays too. And Don Kelly to boot. The best option is to slide Miggy to third. No question.
This is not just physical- but mental. Mentally he knows the position. He will translate bact to a tolerable place. I dont doubt that. I know everyone here does- but no one has hit better than Cabby since 2009. Not even Pujols. I dont see any 3rd basemen even CLOSE. That said, His bat will MORE than make up for the deficet.
Maybe I am a glass is half full guy here, but I think he will figure it out and be fine. Maybe a lil tic up in our staff ERA, but I highly doubt he is costing us whole games.

I cant wait to see them batting.. That will be my fun part! I know the defence will be less- but Cabby has lost an estimated 30-40lbs, he isnt gonna be the best but he will be more tolerible than a guy with bad knees, that bats .198, and doesnt have the range or youth he used to either. I will take Miggy and Fielder at the corners any day over keeping inge in the lineup. The man has been a rally killer since the final out of game 5 of the 2006 World Series...

Honestly- I would like to see the two of them batting in Cellular... That band box will be humorous...
